My first attempt at creating a competitive map. Ionize is a single-axis symmetrical map built inside the Colosseum. Anyways, I present: __________________ I o n i z e (Beta) Competitive map for 2-8 Players. Download Ionize to your Xbox 360 This map is made to play using the official MM Slayer gametypes, be it regular, DMRs, or Pro. Not sure how it fares using MM objective variants. Gametypes available: Slayer -8 Player Free-For-All -4v4 Team Slayer Capture the Flag -Two Flag CTF -Neutral Flag CTF King of the Hill -All hills are set in neutral areas Oddball -Alpha phase; only one ball spawn Stockpile -Custom version; uses 7 flags. Weapon List -1x Rocket Launcher (1 extra clip, 178s drop spawn) -2x Sniper Rifle (1 extra clip, 118s drop spawn) -1x Grenade Launcher (5 extra clips, 118s drop spawn) -1x Shotgun (1 extra clip, 88s drop spawn) -1x Plasma Turret (90s respawn) -1x Plasma Pistol (60s respawn) -4x DMR (2 extra clips, 30s respawn) -4x AR (2 extra clips, 30s respawn) -2x Needle Rifle (2 extra clips, 30s respawn) -4x Plasma Rifle (30s respawn) -4x Needler (2 extra clips, 30s respawn) -6x Frag Grenade (30s respawn) -6x Plasma Grenade (30s respawn) Whoa, looking at the list makes it seem like there's a lot of weapons, but they're spaced enough to not seem like there's a lot. Notwithstanding other, more experienced opinions, of course. An attempt at an overview from blue side. Another overview attempt from the opposite corner. Close look at the Ion Cannon. Plasma Pistol behind it, Plasma Grenades between the pillars, and a Rocket Launcher at the top end of the barrel. View of the Ion Cannon side. Health Pack on the cover piece. View of the High Ground side. Sniper Rifle on the cover piece Ground floor on the right side of Red Base and left side of the Ion Cannon. Shotgun in the tunnel and Plasma Rifle sitting in the open. Yes, you get a ground floor cross-map view. Sightlines between elevations are a little bit more obstructed. Close look at the Turret side. A tunnel exists under it containing Plasma Grenades. A Grenade Launcher sits under the turret at ground level. A view of the tunnels of the base from the left of Red Base. Needlers sit beside the Covenant crates. A view of the right-front and center base tunnel entrances of Blue Base. The inside of Blue Base. Symmetry means you've technically seen the inside of Red Base. A Needle Rifle sits in front of the Covenant crate. Assault Rifles on the outside of the angled sandbags. And "ladders" (because I dislike ramps and hate grav lifts)! Yes, that means the Rocket Launcher is accessible only by ladders and jetpacks. Speaking of jetpacks... This is the only accessible illegal spot (so far), but instead of giving jetpackers a whole ten seconds to sit there (possibly with a Sniper Rifle), a different deterrent is in place. A few more weapon locations include a pair of Plasma Grenades and Frag Grenades in the middle of the map, and DMRs on the gateway/door/column/strut things that give off really good color. Concerns: -Spawns (always a big concern) -Weapon placement/variety/abundance -Sightlines Constructive feedback and adds are appreciated. I really want a chance to try this map myself.
