Hello guys, i'm new here, I have read these forums and used them a lot to find great maps and game variants, but have only just joined. I have always enjoyed Forge in Halo 3 but never really managed anything spectacular. But, like most people, I have seen the new Forge world vids in Reach and it has really motivated me to do something special, so I hope to join your community. But thats enough about me. My first point is ... How many people do you think are going to make maps that are too big in Forge world? I am looking forward to the size as much as anyone but I do think that most maps will need some form of boundry (I know that boundries are included, I am on about how many people will use them effectively). I'm fine with open world race maps and the like, but I can already see a lot of people making a team deathmatch or even free for all map, the size of the entire Forge world. As I am sure you all know "Bigger isn't always better" I hope to see a lot more of you guys from now on Taldur.
People will make huge maps but they have to be built in the correct way for it to work perfectly. But there will be maps that are huge and posted on forgehub and the map itself will not play good on any gametype, they will just post it because they want there creation on forgehub. Me i am looking in smaller maps maybe 8 to 10 player maps. I am really liking the Rock area the abillity to create down around the rock will be awesome. The thing is Forgehub will go through so many crap huge maps that don't play well at all, maybe a month later thats when good maps start appearing.
Race Maps the size of the entire Forge World may work, if they don't get too boring, but everything else won't work. You can't forge a proper Map that connects the colosseum with the canyon (well, you can in theory, but it will play like 1v1 Swords, high gravity, low speed on a guardian blocked sandbox canvas). Like you said bigger isn't always better.
