So my I got my internet bill yesterday - it was 60$ higher than normal (which is almost double the price) because I went 300 gb over my limit. I didn't even know I had a limit. The notice on my bill mentioned that I was notified either by email, browser, or phone. I have a feeling that my adblock program on my browser blocked any web/browser insert that they may have intended to deliver which has caused me to be oblivious to this change because they certainly did not contact me via email or phone.

Either way - my provider switched over my plan to a capped plan which means every 50gb additional over my cap is an additional 10$. The notice on the bill said that they waived the first 2 overage charges which means that January and February I likely also went over my cap.

The thing that irks me is that on my bill it shows my plan but doesn't actually tell me how much total data I can use for each billing cycle without being charged for additional usage. I have a feeling that this is going to make streaming my weekly customs events very expensive. I'm going to call this evening and tell them a little bit about how I feel about this whole situation and find out what my options are. Im sure their customer service people have already gotten an earful about this and are probably told to transfer to sales so I can purchase a higher tiered data plan to accommodate for my high usage.

Is this the only ISP in your area?

Yea they are. I live in WV which is really rural and because I work in IT for my company I see what services each of our locations have and I have noticed that the providers in this area are very territorial. One area is only Timewarner, another is Frontier, another is Comcast, another is Shantel... and I am in the area with Suddenlink

So much for competition. It's sick that companies can split up areas like that and do whatever they want, because they know people can't switch to a competitor...

That would really suck for me, I am a PC gamer, have a ps4, and an Xbox. Between steam and purchasing new game for consoles... The install downloads alone would be over the cap. With games for gold and all that, plus something is always streaming in my home... Ugh.

I havent turned my computer off in over a month, and i have 4 laptops and a tablet space throughout my apartment streaming something like music or twitch so i always have some thing where ever i sit down. on top of all that i also have my phone on the wifi. Putting a cap on that would have killed me a long time ago.

Thats nuts £160 i pay each year unlimited use . I bounce between all the providers when my contract ends each year. Who ever gives me it free gets my line rental money. I have about 6 providers in my crap we country & growing . Are you hosting this weekend? & i use alot off data since i use my xbox one to watch all my films for free.twitch , youtube & catch up. Good luck .the email prob went into your junk mail. This happens with my provider.make sure u list it as not junk .

I know how you feel I had this happen to me once before. I also live in WV and have comcast a few years back they charged us for going over a limit we didn't even know we had. Fortunately they have stopped charging for going over that limit. Hope it works out for you.

Yeah they did this to me too. Just out of nowhere saying we are using more than our plan allowed so we have a mandatory upgrade to the next plan. I'll be playing Halo in the living room, my son watching avengers on Netflix in his room, my daughter watching the wiggles in my bedroom on Hulu while my wife is on FB or YouTube on her phone & I am getting FH on my phone at the same time, lol. Can't imagine how I went over the limit.
