I've been reading posts around the forge maps and people keep talking about interlocking. I don't understand what that is, so I was wondering if someone could explain it. I'm hoping to make maps in the future.
Of course, just read -this- topic. It goes over the basics of Interlocking, but for more interesting things, that's where you have to draw on creativity. Be sure to also check -this- topic for the rest of your forging needs, also.
Interlocking is a glitch. It allows immovable objects to become 'fused together'. Here's a photo of an interlocked structure: Notice that part of one of the bridges shown here cuts into the wall on the right. Interlocking adds so much to a game, as well as makes the map itself neater. It can close up the smallest gaps between walls. In EVERY map you make, you should use some interlocking. It attracts more people, and more of them will download it. Some of the previous posters have given links to tutorials on how to interlock. These tutorials are usually self-explanatory Like so in the post below me
Interlocking makes everything looks better but don't forget to line up your walls or it just becomes messy again. My weird looking hill made by interlocking:
