Does is bother you when you post a map and didn't use interlocking because it was not needed and then someone comes along and thrashes on the map because you did not interlock. I have seen comments like that on many nice looking maps. It just bugs me. What are your thoughts? I understand that some maps cannot be great unless interlocked.
Our new spam policy considers posts like that spam. Especially if it's been said again, and again, and again. You can report posts if you feel that they are being spammy.
I personally feel that if it does not have ANY interlocking at all, it can be very messy. I feel it is possible to have no interlocking an still have great maps, it is just more common to see a messy, second-rate map with no interlocking.
That is true. But it bugs me to see good maps getting trashed on simply because there was no interlocking.
Interlocking is a tool, not something for a map to be based around. It's blatantly obvious that a lot of the new maps are centered around some overly interlocked structure, which is the very reason I no longer download featured maps. I play them with people who have the custom content room to download them, but after one or two games the maps that took 35+ hours to make get extremely boring; usually in less then twenty minutes. People need to get over using gimmicks to make their map stand out, and focus more on game play. Interlocking is nice, and I use it when needed. I have never overly interlocked a map, hell most of my maps don't even use interlocking what so ever. Since the discovery and wide use on Geo-merging has started the quality in the sense of fun has gone down drastically. And the constant 'Needs more interlocking' and 'nice interlocking' comments don't help at all, the only thing it does it make more and more newer forgers think that interlocking is the most important aspect of a map. So I ask anyone reading this, do you think you could actually make a fun, and creative map on a pre-DLC map? or even on a map like Rat's Nest or Ghost Town for that matter?
why do people keep making these threads. To avoid repepitive interlocking threads there should be a sticky interlocking discussion.
