Understanding the zombie psyche By Estmid (for privacy matters this name has been replaced with a gamertag) In order for any person to truly understand an enjoyable infection type game based on the custom-ability from Bungie's proudly known Halo 3, what should be understood without a doubt is the zombie's perspective. Alas, the shallow zombie's true purpose is naught but to be shot first with a shot to the stomach then a blow to the head thus ending it's pathetic and meaninless life. But thats not how an infection game should be enjoyed. For a player to feel as though they are being picked off by a horde of infected while they try to find a place of comfort and security is bogus if someone isn't there to challenge them. Yet, a simple zombie cannot be of any challenge, oh no, take this example, a zombie find a survivor leaping from a car, the zombie follows, runs barreling towards them with awesome speed, they reach the survivor and suddenly stop, dead, their head has been popped right off. Now, if that zombie had accomplises, that survivor would have thought twice about who to shoot, should they run and how to react as opposed to a simple "Quick, aim at it's head!" ideal. For a player to have been triggered a true anxiousness and andrenaline rush means they are getting pretty excited. For a zombie, the best thing is to feel victory, yet, their goal is so far off based upon their lack of skill and knowledge of sense. As far as custom infection goes, you camp and your a dooshbag, as most people like to put it. So whats a lone zombie to do, they have only speed and some type of simplistic melee weapon to keep them encouraged. To truly keep them going, and to enjoy their frantic antics, it must be made for a team encouraged type of gameplay, new players should be hooked as soon as they set their eyes on the hectisity of the game. Love the infection and understand how the most important parts of it work and you'll be ready to go for a great time with your freinds. That is all i wish to say. -Estmid
This is a very poor writeup. http://www.forgehub.com/forum/forging-201/89260-theory-infection-mapmaking.html Edit: Apparently you've already seen that thread. Your reason for writing this is beyond me.
I wanted to state something beyond a simple "how to" thread that Sarcasm made. I am very aware of my writeup being a bit poor, but I made this from raw ethical thought. This a bare written work that i wanted people to read and think about, if you understand the way an infection game works then maybe building a map around it will be easier. Do you understand what im saying? It's a bit confusing....
