Any tips on increasing frame rate on forge maps?

I decided to go back and work on a map I stopped forging a while ago, and while building the map I noticed there's two areas where framerate drops off. It's not a horrible drop but definitely noticeable. I'm about 80% finished with the map and basically wondering if you guys have any tips on reducing the drop in framerate in these two spots. Both of these places are the teams initial spawns and can view the entire map. There is a good amount of palm trees and other types of plants but definitely not too many.

Does the number of angles in a viewing area reduce frame rate?

I have no ideas, but if you ever need to decrease frame rate, I'm your guy.

Alrighty homeslice, I'm gonna give you the blanket checklist on how to reduce framerate issues.

-Try to keep your total piece count below 1400
-If you have a ton of items all together in one spot, the item density may cause issues
-If your light maps is REALLY REALLY high you can see quality drops
-If you have parts of the map where much of the map is visible from one spot, that could be a factor
-Excessive use of glass is know to cause issues
-Excessive use of foliage is known to cause issues
-Excessive use of FX in one spot is known to cause issues
-Normal items that cannot fully return to their spawn spot can cause issues
-Using things such as steam:fill in abundance in a large area can cause issue

If any of these things match up for you, try to correct the issue

If you use lights with the effects it can cause issues too, I have found that light cones or lens flares destroy frames very easily.

Yeah pretty much my only problem is the two spots where there's frame rate drop you can basically view the entire map, like you mentioned. I do have foliage and a few fx pieces but again the only time frame rate drops is in those 2 spots which happen to be the team spawns.

I really would like to not change the initial spawn locations, and I've already simplified the map by going back and using different/larger pieces where possible.

I guess I'll just have to play around with the map to see what I can do. If you have any other tips on fixing this small problem feel free to reply, thanks for the info!

In your case, if you're not going to alter the sightlines out of spawns you gotta reduce your item count.

I think that light cones are fine if you lower the light that it produces is so low that it's non existent. A moderate amount shouldn't cause any frame rate.

It sucks to change your map but often you'll be able to come up with a clever solution it you are open to changing
