Forging 101: Immovable Objects [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgngLDhlChc"]YouTube- ForgeHub Video Tutorial #4: Immovable Objects[/ame] Now for something less talked about yet extremely helpful. Have you ever blocked off a room with half a dozen boxes and yet people can still move them with the assistance of grenades? Well in the following tutorial I will teach you how to use one box that won't budge when shot with a dozen rockets. Teleporters and weapon holders are used in many of the neat tricks seen in forge. Well in this instance they will once again be utilized. The first step in making an immovable barrier or simply and stand alone crate you will need to wedge a box(s) to where you want your barrier to stand or place your object. Next if you're building a barrier place either teleporters or weapon holders behind it. If you are using weapon holders you may wish to elevate the weapon holders slightly using the method found in "How to: Floating Objects" also be sure to turn instant respawn on any weapon holders used in case they are blown up. If you are using teleporter nodes I recommend using sender or two way nodes, but if all you have left is receiver nodes by all means use them. Note that you may have to levitate the receiver nodes in order to position them properly to wedge the box. Have fun barricading players in!
Thanks for this tip, I have wondered if there was a way to do this. When Halo 3 first came out I did a forge where you are shut in the Last Resort base but we stopped playing it because one guy wouldn't play and would just try to get outside the base. Now I can keep his slippery butt in there. Thanks again!
Actually no, I can think of uses for it, including situations where you need to plug a small hole to prevent people from getting out of the map, and are either out of walls and boxes or they don't fit the hole. But regardless there are about a dozen other maps where this is plenty useful.
This was written before foundry. When you had to utilize a variety of forging techniques to successfully make a map without flaw.
Weedier please don't repost things that have already been stated... and no... it's not useless on Foundry.
Yeah, if you don't have the right stuff for the job, always improvise with one of these tricks. I only use these if they look good, however. I hate having sloppy maps.
k, hows about immovable tanks... basically ive been workin on a map but i want to use the tanks as sentry turrets. ive tried a few techniques like weapon holders to keep crates in place and drop pods to create a barrier but its still movable. If anyone can help, it would be greatly apprechiated....
Ya, this would be difficult, but not impossible. Would require a lot of resources though. I will try this out myself and get back to you with a post here if I can manage it. Unfortunately, tanks are limited to certain maps. *sigh*
How can people not know this stuff, come on this is the easiest and well know trick in forge, basics. Make a tutorial on opening and closing doors how to build. I already know how to do this but, does anybody else know hot to do this.
Off-Topic. to make Tanks Immovable put Weapon Holders, or something that can't be moved . On-Top of The vehicle and so it limits it from moving but can still be used to shoot!
