I've looked at UE, Cry Engine, and Unity. I chose Unity because it is definitely a one man operation. With C# scripting is rapid. If I were to go with an engine that required C/C++ I would go with Cry because it simply beats everyone with its terrain rendering.
****ing noobs swarm to the Unreal Engine after all these years and in their confusion to comprehend differences in the the short forms of Unreal Engine UE and Unreal Editor UEd everyone just starts calling everything UE. Now I have to unnecessarily wait to clarify what in the **** they are talking about every time a conversation starts up. Just another case of Noobs becoming the cool kids and ****ing everything up. I can't wait until we have to decipher messages that look like people are practicing their ABC's because they've abbreviated the whole language into single letters. **Sorry for this post, I think I just mixed up my coolaid with multi's**
Ya, I don't know what year it started but everyone just stopped calling it UEd. It's now to the point where I can typically never find info solely on the editor without righting a bunch of crap in the search engine. Used to be just UEd or UEd99, UEd2 and UEd2004 . . . I feel it may have started to wain around UEd3
I Just type Unreal Engine because abbreviations are stupid outside of either Unreal Discords (UnrealTournament vs. Unreal Slackers[dev]).
