mg: That would be just win! I spend so long looking for spawns and most the time just kill myself so I can spawn at one but thats like 100 deaths. This would be great! Also I think there should be a butten when choosing the map to forge on that deletes all items on the map (save map room and time making canvas maps)
I'm going to ignore the realism in this thread, because it's very obvious that a Forgehub thread would never in a million years influence the production of an entire video game. My idea, however, is Landscape Mode: by pressing down on the D-Pad, have the ability to grab and pull the FLOOR of the map to create hills and crevices. Idea 2: scenery equipment: a permanently placed scenery object for trip mines, power drains, bubble shields, regenerators, (not flares), and deployable covers. Idea 3: quick-skin: after a map is complete, choose a SKIN for the map so all items are given the texture of Last Resort, Ghost Town, Blackout or whatever else.
To add most of the things people have posted you would really need a game based purely on forge... but I'm sure Bungie could add some useful tools such as 90* snapping tools, being able to turn on & off merging and more useful objects i guess. Really if people want to build terrain and colour objects and change elevation of hills etc you need a much larger system, it's not really something they can and will do. Focus on smaller additions to forge i think.
KillStreak type things would be awesome 3 KILL STREAKS Extra Health Supplies 5 KILL STREAKS Pelican dropped Hog Phantom dropped Spectre(if in game) get this instead of Hog if Elite 8 KILL STREAKS UNSC LONGSWORD Carpet Bomb If Elite- 2 Banshees fly over and drop Fuel Rod shots 15 KILL STREAKS Juggernaut- 2 Heavily armed Spartans come in for 2 minutes and unleash hell Hunter-Pair- 2 Super Hunters come in for 2 minutes- If Elite 25 KILL STREAKS MAC CANNON BLAST- Completely destroys the whole map, ending the game. Cruiser Glass- The Game ends with a Cruiser flying over and glassing the whole map- If Elite
The ability to add a soundtrack to your map would be cool. Add to the atmosphere. Maybe a proximity deal that would change the song as you got closer to its spawn point. If you've ever played LittleBigPlanet you know what I mean.
Every single one of Halo 3's multiplayer maps takes place somewhere that the campaign took place. (Besides a couple DLC maps... And Guardian, which is a deleted campaign mission) Obviously, it wouldn't make any sense if Bungie put in a couple multiplayer maps taking place on Earth, or some random Halo. Because this game is titled "Halo: Reach". That'd be like if CoD had multiplayer maps on the Moon, or some other planet. You've gotta know by now how focused Bungie is on having Multiplayer maps with a backstory to them. Then please explain to me how Far Cry 2 (Open World Game...) managed to include a campaign much longer than Halo 3's, and a map creator mode that is about one-thousand times more expansive than Halo 3's forge mode...
The two main things i would want are an anchor thing so insted of having to save and quit you can just anchor it. Also i think you or someone mentioned a permeable option? That would be good too.
I don't know a lot about far cry 2 but halo 3 would use a lot of disk space on the campaign due to how large most of them are, the forge mode itself, the 10 or how many default custom maps are on the disk and the screen-shot & film recording capabilities would use a lot of disk space, thats why i don't 'think' they could introduce these additions to forge, and I'm sure far cry has limited its multiplayer and some other things to make space for its Open world Campaign & "thousand times more expansive" map creator. But this is just my opinion.
I don't know about forge, but they should change the motion tracker. Let it use a 25m sphere instead of an infinitely tall cylinder. Then we wouldn't get construct paranoia
If you have ever played Far Cry 2's campaign, you can tell most of it is very repetitive and ardous. Sure, the world is pretty big, and mostly open world, but the actual playability of the game lacks terribly. Every time you want to get somewhere, it seemed like I was driving for 15 minutes. Most of the game was made off of a previous section of the game, with a few minor adjustments. As for the map editor, hey, they did something right.
I want a butten that turns the item you just placed into a hologram so it looks like it's there but you can walk though it!! New age of mazes.... Secret passengers + death pits ftw!
I saw this earilier, but never commented, props and +rep fer making this. As for objects, I would want an FX filter that, when a certain one is placed, will change the gradient and style of the map. Say theres an FX called Forerunner, when you place it, the map instantly becomes covered in Forerunner aesthetics, but doesnt really change anything ON the map. Like, every single object has a different version of itself, like Forerunner, Sand, Covenant etc etc. That would be ****ing awesome.
I was thinking about something like that. I would like that as well as (along with everyone else), an "undo" button.
I think gravity manipulators would be cool......in theory. I guess they'd look something like a territory/hill marker and anyone inside the changeable dimensions would be effected. There could be tons of different types. All gravity pull/push woud be based on where the bottom of the marker is located. And there would be __% gravity strangth in the options menue. Strong pull would glue you to the floor, wall, or even cealing. A sligltly weaker pull could limit your jump. You could have a push that would basicly work like a huge grav lift, or a medium push that could give you 10 feet jumping abilities. You could even create weightlessness by overlapping 2 strong pulls. You'd just keep travleing through the air in the direction and speed you entered. You could build a distortion, racetracks where you could race sideways, upside down, and this would even make the mythicle "perfect loop-d-loop" possible. While, thats all i got...
if they made it work like google sketchup that would be really kewl and if they made it where after you make a bland gray map then you have different textures to choose from example glass, road look, grass, sandstone, building wall look, dirt, mud, water, snow ect.
dude seriously, if all this was included in forge we wouldnt know what to do, it would lag, a lot, servers would crash and the maps would take ages to download. It would take the fun out of forge because it is good having a challenge to make things out of the objects given. I agree with things such as sand, more objects, mearging without glitching, snapping objects, more custom games options and maby a few others but this is rediculous. it is just simply too much.
