I'm having some trouble changing my icons for my mac. The dock icons are coming out screwed up, even though nothing is wrong with the original. The method I am using is to click on the icon I want to change it to, and then click apple + i (get info) then I click on the image (on the top left) and copy it. Then I go to the app I want to change and apple + i and then click on the image and paste it. This, however, just changed it to the icon for the image and not the image itself. So I opened up the image in preview (I'm using 10.4.11) and copy it there. I paste it using the aforementioned method, and it comes out distorted. Here's the original image (I was just experimenting so I didn't care ATM) and this is what the icon changed to: so I thought I would go into gimp and try to clean it up a bit (magic wand, click on background, check feather edges, edit clear). No better. I did this thinking the image might have a background or something. this removes the background. This was the result: All of the images are PNGs. thanks for the help, sorry its a long read edit: ok, so I came across a program called candy bar that does it for you. But it's not working. It puts it as the picture file picture or just a question mark. I have the right OS version for it it seems that Candy Bar didn't bother updating the later versions of the tiger OS, so it won't work with my 10.4.11. Shoot :/. I realize I can do it manually, but the icons come out blocky and distorted. Is there any other programs that do the same thing? I think I've found an alternative: LiteIcon
