I've always wanted to but have never had the materials or the information. Can someone who does already list me all the supplies a will need and how much it's going to cost me?

I understand this isn't exactly a well thought out topic, but I want serious replies; General Chat.

Get the dazzle video creator plus. Its easy to use and comes with a studio, absolutely great quality. Comes in at 92$, the studio alone is like 50$. If you do buy it, read my thread on how to make it work without extra cords.. it'll save you 30$.

    Where'd you get 172?

    You'll need:

    Capture Card (Example
Editing software (should come with capture card)
    A/V Splitter (optional)
    Halo 3
    Xbox 360
    TV

Go here for a good, detailed guide for beginners.

    Do the math, Sir.

But thank you, do you mind listing prices also?

Ok. this thing comes with a dazzle which is the capturing device which captures the screen. You need to install pinnacle studio(comes with it) to actually use the dazzle. After capturing you can edit to your liking. You can always use another studio program though, but good ones are very expensive.

I don't think you understand what he was saying.

He was saying the capture card with the software was 92$. There is one that doesn't come with the software for 50$. He was saying you save 30$ by buying the capture card without the software. He meant it was 92$ or 50$

Anyway, go to the link I provided, it's pretty good.

Yep, but if you don't have an TV with the green, blue and red cord slots you need some composite RCA cords. (If you do have a TV that takes the special colors, read my guide to avoid any confusion and how to save 30$)

Basically, you need Dazzle, and it comes with a program, and I am pretty sure you can get it for $70. In addition, you might have to get these component splitters (forgot what they are called, but they have 2 female ends, 1 male. The male goes into you t.v, the dazzle goes in 1 female, xbox 1 female, x3 for each component chord). From there you plug the Dazzle in a USB on your computer. Are you running Windows or Apple? Windows comes with Windows Movie Maker, and if not you can get it online for free, and Apple comes with iMovie. Old iMovie was better than the new update for it, so if at all possible, just stick with WMM. Of course, there are ways to get programs like Vegas Pro... *cough* but it is way more advanced, and unless you have some background in editing and video composition, you can have trouble learning it.

So basically, all you have to worry about is
    1 Dazzle
3 component splitters or what the hell they are called.
    I estimate around $80.

I have a free DVD converter that acts as a capture card at my disposal, and pro video editing. However, I have not yet tried machinima.

Oh, it is nice. It might soon be up their with Final Cut Pro and Avid. At first I was questioning, its capabilities, but it has a nice work flow to it. I still love Final Cut for my mac at school, but I prefer Vegas over Avid, or Pinnacle (though I think they got bought out by Avid, and are now combined).

BTW, don't talk about trnting on the forums, cause it is illegal.

You should probably wait till After September 25th....because, you know that's when "they're" boycotting Halo 3 because they cry to much and they need to get their way!! Which, by the way, is going to be a total bust and will not work.

Anyways, you're going to need a capture card. (As someone has already said).
You could upload all your videos to GeeVee, but that would take a long time.
You can find tutorials on youtube about how to set up your capture card, and it's not very hard at all.
I have a Dazzle DVC 100 and it works perfectly fine, and can upload to youtube without a hassle, with great quality as well.

I'm probably going to have to, my birthdays the 27th of Sept and that's what I'm relying on to get my monies, seeing as no one in this ****ing town hires under 16. And the machinima that I have in mind has little need for weapon lowering, so meh. ; )

But again, thank you all for helping out... except you Rip. Meanie.
