I am forging my beautiful map and I hit the limit of items. Its not to where it says I have 0 blocks but I can't spawn any objects at all. I still have to set up spawns. This means I have to delete all the things that make it look good and set up the spawns AFTER I finish making my structures. Any ideas? If anyone requests some pictures I can get some so all you have to do is ask. I need some help.
If you're talking about Afterburner in your recent screenshots, then you really shouldn't need to worry too much. I see a lot of blocks and other pieces used scenery, most of which will never really be seen by the player. You just need to be willing to sacrifice scenery for gameplay.
Unfortunately I am not talking about Afterburner. The map I am working on right now is in the hanger of forge world. I will get some pictures to show you as soon as possible. I still need to name it too. Afterburner has everything set up and was submitted to be tested in the TRC Guild about two weeks ago. It didn't get tested. Oh well. One moment while I get these pictures for you. [br][/br]Edited by merge: PicturesMap so far) Overview Another view Sword View and sniper on left Rocket Needler Hallway below base
Well taking a look at the screen shots it looks several of those blocks can be replace with a different piece. Like the 5x1 shorts (in pictures 2 and 4) can be replaced and still look good by placing railing pieces with a cover or cover crenallation, just as an example. If you want I could help you this weekend on replacing some of the blocks with different pieces.
I will do what I can. The only other thing I am trying to decide on is weapons. Since my purpose of this map was to have a covenant essence, I can't decide on the power weapons. here are my choices: Sniper/Focus Rifle Concussion rifle/ Grenade launcher Fuel rod gun/ Rockets Sword/Gravity hammer That is my other problem. This is what i am leaning towards but would like some suggestions. Sniper grenade Launcher Fuel Rod Gun Gravity Hammer After that I need to decide on ammo and spawn times. This might take a little while.
Well if you have any questions feel free to PM me about it and I will try and help you as best I can. And for the weapons thing, I would put an energy sword, and a Fuel rod gun would be the best choice since to me this looks like a 4v4 map because you don't want to many power weapons IMO, but that's just me.
Looking at those screenshots, I can see a few specific cases where you can recover pieces and lower your object count, as well as some general guidelines that may help. Specific possible edits I see two pillars on the map that appear to be constructed from two Block 2x4s and two Block 1x1 Talls, with an Antenna Small on top (this is per pillar, not total). Perhaps you could simplify the blocks by changing them into two Block 3x4s, thereby recovering two pieces per pillar? So far as I can tell, the decorations on your Sword spawn serve no purpose. That whole room also has a lot of glass (which is affected by the dynamic light cast when holding the Sword -- possible frame rate issue?). Consider removing the decorative objects, and replacing the walls with less-glassy equivalents. I see (in your Overview screenshot) that you use multiple Inclines placed next together, to form a ramp to a floating platform in the center of the map. Specifically, it looks like you're using two Ramp 2x2s per ramp. Consider deleting these and instead using a tilted Block 3x4 for each side, thereby cutting the number of pieces used in half. The southernmost building uses three Platform Larges to form a roof. It might be more effective to replace these three pieces with one Coliseum Wall. General possible edits Consider using Brace Larges for any long, flat surfaces. They are Decoratives (and hence more expensive than most pieces), but their sheer size makes up for their cost. Several of your screenshots show what look like Block 5x5 Flats assembled together to form simple walls and floors. If you have enough room to do so, consider replacing these with Coliseum Walls. (Yes, I know, the rotation bug makes Coliseum Walls frustrating to use... But I imagine that hitting the global object limit is considerably more bothersome. Besides -- I'm pretty sure that the bug only appears when loading a map in Forge, so just re-snap your Colis whenever you start editing again.) Also AceOfSpades, the OP has a different issue. They can't just replace one piece with another. They have to find ways to reduce the object count on their map by replacing multiple pieces with a single new piece, in as many places as possible. Halo: Reach has a maximum object count on your map; it's roughly 640. The limit is present even if you have budget remaining, and even if you haven't placed all of an object or object category. It's built into the file format. The OP has hit this limit.
