I need suggestions on what items to use when setting up random drops and how you guys would place them around your maps. I'm in the middle of forging a map and I have forgers block
AFAIK Random drops aren't really the way to go for competitive maps, as you can't really control the respawn time on them.
As said above random drops are not for competitive maps. Rather they give a chance to anyone to get not matter the date of map control. If the group your playing with is mixed on skill level then make your drops game changing, but not overly so. For instance a rocket launcher is good for 4 kills on average regardless of skill; however, a beam rifle in the hands of a pro is 6 kills while someone new to the game might struggle for two. If your going for competitive try working with initial drops that respawn on a timer. These should be specific to the map. (Sniper on a closed map does not a power weapon make)
Is there a way to have drops for Infinity Slayer but also have static weapons for good ol' slayer? Like changing the game type/mode flags or something? I appreciate the feedback guys, thanks
I think you misunderstand the meaning of static, let me clarify for you; Static: Weapon spawns every x minutes after the game time + 10 seconds. Say you have a rocket launcher spawning every 3 minutes in a 15 minute game. It would always spawn at 15:10, 12:10, 9:10, 6:10, 3:10, and 0:10, regardless of when players picked it up. Dynamic: Weapon spawns every x minutes after the last person picks it up. Say a sniper rifle spawns every two minutes. If I pick it up at 9:47, it will spawn again at 7:47. What are your options for static and dynamic spawning? Dynamic: 1. Place the weapons on your map straight out of the "Weapons, Human," "Weapons, Covenant," or "Weapons, Forerunner" categories. 2. Initial Ordnance Static: 1. Drop spawning. I won't really elaborate as it causes your static weapons to disappear very quickly after appearing on the map in this game. 2. Random ordnance allows you to create up to 2 static spawning weapons if you set the min/max random ordnance timer limits equal (in gametype options). Quasi-static: This is when you just place random ordnance on your map and leave the gametype. Not really favored for competitive play, as people above me have brought up. Hopefully that helped. I don't understand exactly what you're talking about (what is "good ol' slayer?")..
It sound like you need to place weapons straight from the weapons (covenant, human, forerunner) menu, and then change the respawn setting. As for having weapons appear or not based game type you need to edit the game_label field in the advanced settings
