Possibly, anyway. Flag melee is always set as insta kill. This should override and damage modifiers, even those that put gun damage to 0%. So, set carrier damage to 0%. FIXED
Not so much auto pickup as auto pickup and not being able to drop the flag. The flagnum is probably the only thing that makes it work. This is also assuming they didn't remove flag carrier traits.
What about just making "Griffball/Assault" whatever its called if there is a two way variant and just reverse it by putting the "Bomb Plant zone" where the default "Flag spawn zone" would be and put "Bomb spawn zone" where "Flag capture zone" would be?
CTF is forever broken. It is now an objective slayer gametype along with most other objective gametypes...
If you're trying to say that players are going to focus on getting kills over the objective, then that's not something new. None of the new additions to CTF will break the gametype. Sure, the inability to drop the flag isn't the best move that 343 has made, but their goal was to commit players to capturing the flag. While I think they could have found a better way to do this, I expect it to perform well for what they were aiming to do.
CTF will probably be broken until they bring back a visible skill rank which dictates ranking up. With the recent 'everyones a winner' style of ranking up people only care about themselves. If winning a game of CTF helped to increase your skill rank then people would take it more seriously.
I don't. When did someone ever pick up the flag but drop it just because they felt like not being the flag carrier? Sure, not many want to be the flag carrier in MM, but they decide that before they pick it up. A droppable flagnum would reduce the number of times that the flag would need to be momentarily dropped for self defense, allowing simultaneous movement while shooting, but not for throwing grenades, switching to a non-pistol like weapon or using an AA (all three categories of which are supposed to be more varied in H4). A non droppable flagnum makes it less appealing to be a carrier in terms of limited combat, even if it is faster. Was there anything wrong with possibly passing the flag to a teammate? It seems like they want to make carrying the flag simpler. They rejected in text the classic "flag must be at home to score" setting because it made flag caps more continuous and predictable (their language was vague, when interpreted minimally it was essentially meaningless), and the flagnum doesn't allow a choice of sacrificing movement for extra capabilities, as if that choice was too mentally stressful for players. EDIT: I also realized, although it may have been said by others when no-drop was first announced, that it couldn't have been a way to eliminate flag juggling, because increasing the movement speed of the carrier to equal the base speed (which they actually did) would have made flag juggling a useless give-away of your position.
