so my internet has been down for the past week and i decided earlier today that i would just fiddle around on forge for a couple hours. well after fiddling around for a couple hours, i actually liked what i had going. the problem is the last time i wasn't able to log on to xbox live and tried saving my game, it didn't save my game. i was upset about that and i don't want that to happen again! is there any way possble that i can save my game (maybe i have to buy a memory card?) so that i can access my map again? or is everything just saved on to x-box live and this is a lost cause?

maybe you guys can help me out here, thanks.

Maps save to the xbox itself, not through XBL. I'm assuming it was a simple slip last time it didn't save. As far as other ways to save it, I'm not entirely sure about them.

Worst case scenario, you can save it, and then take pictures of what you built in theater mode. That way, if it doesn't save, you know exactly how to re-make it.

Assuming you have a hard drive, you should be able to save maps as local files. I've done extensive forging offline at times without the box even connected to a network cable and been able to save what I was working on, and play it on Live later. I can't think of any reason it would prevent you from doing this. If you run into it again, describe the behavior more fully and maybe someone can help.

so then should i save it as a new map like you typically would (save "new map as")? just a little paranoid

    That'll work fine.
I used to have a problem where my internet would disconnect and kick me from the forge session if I forged online so I'd forge offline. It's not a problem. You will have to be online to upload anything to your fileshare though, and if you take screenshots offline they might not upload to your recent screenshots on Bungie.net
