I read the thread title and was expecting some snappy post stating we're all going to die of old age, or something that actually held some degree of sense.

Then I realized who posted it, so I felt obligated to read it because I love when my face and palm meet. Needless to say, my reaction to his prediction was as expected.

Jedi, you don't cite any information, and you're 70% kidding about this thread. If so, you should have put it in OT. But you didn't. The magnetic field does not 'repel' asteroids, no matter how big or small they are. You are obviously uneducated on the topic because you happened to say that we would die as when these asteroids landed in the ocean, and cause tidal waves, or if we don't live near these oceans, we'd be burned by solar bursts (which might I say could be your only accurate conclusion, but it's still far off) or crushed by asteroids. Which is completely untrue. You seem to thing that after the field decays, every asteroid in the universe is all of a sudden attracted to Earth, and they will hit once every 5 minutes or something of the sort. I'm sorry, but we are not gonna die like that. Asteroids still would only have the same chance to hit Earth as they do now. Though after it's decayed, we would have more problematic, and accurate, situations to face.

Next time, post something you've read up on that is at least somewhat true, then you'll be ready for General Chat.
