Avalanche has been shunned by many forgers while making maps for it's slanted and unforgiving terrain. I'm here to tell you a way to get around it. I discovered this technique after reading about an alternate way to merge with the map's geometry on this thread.

This is what the end result looks like. Straight, neat, and level. Note how the terrain actually dips down, but the boxes do not slant. They are actually ever so slightly merged with the map. However, not merged the way most people do. This is even maintained while being in a straight line. The boxes going through the terrain.

Now on to how to do it. First choose a location that you are going to block off. Look at the angle of the direction that the wall is going to go. Spawn a box and position it within that angle. Pushing the box up against the side of the map helps. This is the direction that you are going to build your wall.
Once you have that, raise your box off the ground without moving it's angle and take it over to a flat spot on the map. As you can see in the picture below, I use one of the frozen lakes. They are relatively flat. Then set your box down. Outline a corner of the box with single boxes. Then delete the box in the middle. This is what you will have. The red area is where the original box was.

Now any box you place in the red area will align to that angle, and become flat.

Once you have this done you are ready to start making your wall. To begin place a box in the red area. Push it down and against the boxes and it will align. NOW CAREFULLY lift up the box, without moving it at ALL. Hold it in the air for a second until it stops moving. Then tap the the right trigger. You have now saved this position. As long as you don't touch the right trigger again, if you are holding it and save changes, it will return to that level. This means if you push the box down against the ground without pressing the right trigger, no matter how unlevel the ground is, when you save changes and end the game, and return, it will be level, and geomerged slightly into the ground.
Go over and place the box on the ground where you want it to be. Push it down without using the right trigger and save changes and you will get what is in the first picture. Interlock them to make it look neater. Repeat over and over again until you finish your wall. Once you finish the first level, you can use the right trigger because all the boxes on the first level are level. Enjoy having perfectly straight walls every time!
