Hey, Well, Iv'e seen a lot of maps recently that have a curved tunnel made out of boxes or walls. I really like these maps, so I thought that I'd give it a go myself. I gave it a go, but found it really hard to get it floating and interlocked. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how its done. Is it just a case of trial and error, or it there some sort of guidelines to use? I know that forge hub has a great community, so I'm sure that i'll get an answer here. I have a screenshot from Shock Theta's map 'Aqueduct' found here. Now, I'm really sorry if I shouldn't have posted this screenshot for whatever reason, please tell me so that I can remove it. Thanks in advance!
I believe it's a learning curve, lol. I'm sorry, I had to say that. It's actually very difficult from the way I do it and I'm not sure how many others do it, but from that picture it looks very clean and well done. I would figure many people use objects as guidelines, but I'm not completely sure how. It would be cool to implement this in a map though.
I use guide boxes and think of how i can use objects to 'guide' others into place. Use objects and their textures as rulers, allowing you to line up objects as you would like them to be. You will get better at it the more you do it, so practice makes perfect. Try starting out simple, then work your way to more complex and curved patterns. I would show you what I've done on my latest map, but I can barely find the time to forge these days. --dc
http://www.forgehub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5283&highlight=interlock Hope fully that can help. For floating stuff youll have to float whatever you using as guides in the "sleeve" method. A dumb cats method is also there, you'll have to float his guide boxes. Hope it helped *Supa midget whips out an improbability drive and disapears in a shower of shamrocks*
