A cry for help. In the Sandbox days of Halo 3, I developed a CTF/ Assault Map Variant named Dogfight. Sparing the details, 2 floating basses in the skies could interact only through air combat (or a well placed sniper shot), with each team having one Hornet in which they could infiltrate the enemy base, capture the objective, and fly home for the win. Teams had to balance player distribution between the raiding party, defenders at home, and those in Banshees. Halo 3's limitations never allowed me to bring this map to fruition. Item caps and, more importantly, the absence of the Hornet (or another Object Transport Air Vehicle) in every Halo since has made this dream practically impossible. But with Halo 5's powerful Forge engine, and Parallax allowing floating air bases to make sense, Dogfight is within my grasp. With only one massive, debilitating problem . . . Still no vehicle capable of transporting objective-laden Spartans through the skies. Will they add something like this in Halo 6? I have no idea. Can they patch this into Halo 5? No clue. Do I stay up at night wishing they would? Yeah, kinda'. So, here is where I ask for your help - Is there a way to ask 343 to at least seriously consider this addition? Is it via forums? E-mail? Petitions? Or should I give up any hope of getting my request heard by anyone with the power to grant my wish? Thanks for letting me vent (and any hope you may lend me).
I'm pretty sure there's already been some prefabs like this ^^ could go digging around the browser 'til you find something
I'd agree - vehicle welding is the way to go. You can do a banshee in a open pelican, which works passably well, though it's a bit unstable for a drop ship if you try to get moving too quickly.
I am somewhat new to Halo 5's Forge, but I did some experiments with welding. My goal was to create a vehicle that could fly, transport 3 (even 2, I guess) non-pilot Spartans with/ without objectives, and be destroyed/ respawned. That last part seems to be the hard one. The closest I got was the aforementioned Banshee/ Open Pelican, but I got greedy trying to get a Warthog in there, ha ha. Admittedly, I've yet to scour the File Browser(!) for a workable pre-fab. One of these days after I'm content with the Breakout maps I'm working on I will have to do some testing. Anyone else have any cool ideas like this?
If you have Breakout maps, you should submit them to Waypoint... o.o Also, I had some luck with a wasp and mongeese. Phateon's seem to crash the game when they boost
I wonder if @Wally12 has these done and available as prefabs. Here's his YouTube video with several flying vehicles: https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=hPmLQLXLz5o
