HOGWASH: This abandoned facility one serviced recently repaired UNSC Warthogs salvaged from combat. Hogwash is an asymmetrical map designed with many different gametypes in mind. Although the layout may not be symmetrical to both teams, you'll find that both the respawn points/respawn areas and the weapon placement do a great job at keeping the balance. With that in mind, let's get on with the tour! * * * * * * * * * * SCREENSHOTS (Note: Captions are below the picture) > In this picture, newly repaired Warthogs salvaged from combat enter the facility and check in. > Once checked in, they're tuned-up, as well as get all of their fluids changed (Note that it's on an elevated platform so the mechanics can work from underneath). > After the job's done, all that's left for the 'Hogs is a good wash! (shield doors represent a car wash, in case you didn't notice) > View of Defender's base. > View of Attacker's base. > Overview of main facility shot from the Attacker's Sniper Spot. > View of car wash exit, as well as stairs to Attacker's overlook, overlooking the Defender's base (Defender's cannot get to it without leaving the safety of their enclosement). > View of the back entrance of the Defender's base. > View of Defender's Base from the Attacker's Overlook. > View of main facility shot from the Attacker's base. * * * * * * * * * * WEAPONS (Respawn time:Extra Clips) 4x Battle Rifle (45:2) 2x Carbine (45:2) 2x Sniper Rifle (90:1) 1x Shotgun (60:1) 2x Mauler (30:1) 1x Needler (45:2) 1x Brute Shot (45:2) 1x Rocket Launcher (90:1) 2x Spiker, paired (30:2) 1x SMG (30:2), paired with 1x Plasma Rifle (30:NA) 3x Machine Gun Turret (90:NA) GRENADES AND EQUIPMENT (Respawn Time) 7x Plasma Grenade (20) 7x Spike Grenade (20) 1x Power Drain (60) 1x Bubble Shield (60) 1x Regenerator (60) * * * * * * * * * * SOME THINGS WORTH MENTIONING There are 5 Warthogs total on this map (4 regular, 1 Gauss), and although their main purpose is for aesthetics, they do not overpower the the map when utilized, as they do not respawn when destroyed, with the exception of the 1 Warthog that spawns in the Attacker's base, which has a respawn time of 3 minutes, and they are placed in practically useless spots (again with the exception of the one in the Attacker's base). There are also 2 Mongoose ATVs in the Attacker's base, both with a respawn time of 1 minute. * * * * * * * * * * SUPPORTED GAMETYPES > Slayer > Team Slayer > CTF (1 Flag and Multi-Flag) > Assault (1 Bomb, Multi-Bomb, and Neutral Bomb) > Infection > King Of The Hill > Oddball * * * * * * * * * * If you download this map, please take a second to rate it after you have tried it out. If you have any comments, compliments, suggestions, or just an opinion, please post it here, or on Bungie.net as I would love to hear what you've got to say. Enjoy! CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD HOGWASH
I was going to say something about there being 5 driveable warthogs on the map, but you already explained it... And this is very clean and well done. The openness is fine because its a vehicle supported map, and weapon placement looks fine. I think there might be too many turrets (I see three), because when you consider the warthog gunner turrets there are essentially 8 turrets on the map, and that might lead people to get all pissed off about getting torn apart by machine gun fire. Other than that, you pretty much combined aethetics and functionality into a near perfect map, so you get a 9/10.
gah, i meant to post on this when there were no posts....damn im no longer 1st post...anyways, i really like the concept behind the whole map, great job, also, i really liked the "garage" part where the hog gets worked on, that is badass, keep it up man, lastly i liked the asymmetrical factor, rarely do you see great asymmetrical hog map!
@IxGUNxSLINGERxI... The Hogs wont be a problem due to their placement. 1 Hog is on the "Oil change platform", 2 are next in line behind it, and 1 is ahead of it about to enter the car wash. From these spots, they can be used as turrets, but I can almost guarantee you that it wont do any good. They can of course be moved into a better position, but that's where the respawn points shine (I'm hoping). Once destroyed, they will not return (except for the one at the Attacker's base). And really, download the map and drive a Hog around, you'll see there's really only 2 "alleys" to drive it in, and if used to camp ANY spot, there's multiple ways out of that spot.
This looks fantastic. I love how you made a map that perfectly incorporated warthogs! The interlocking looks perfect, and the layout stellar. I have it q'ued.
i was only thinking but you know the wash area at the end. It could be more carwashy like if there were gravlifts of mancannons in it instead of the shield doors. to stop the warthog escaping just make sure some are facing away from the opening.
I was thinking of using gravlifts as air dryers, but ran out of floor space And although that that idea would have been a good move aesthetically, I didn't want to compromise gameplay; I wanted to make it more of a competitive map than an aesthetic map, and grav lifts pushing you around rather than it's practical use of lifting you up to a higher spot just didn't cut it for me. And plus, the shield doors (large) when placed on it's side really looks like water running down lol.
I was wondering if I could quote some of you guys and put what you said here about my map in the File Share discussion of this map on the Bungie.net forums...? I'm not even sure if you guys will return to this thread now that you've posted so I'm wondering if you'll even know. I guess if you DON'T WANT me to quote you, tell me, otherwise, I'm gonna go ahead and quote you, and if you want me to remove it, just tell me. And again, thanks for the compliments/comments/suggestions/opinions. I hope you guys have fun playing my map. I hear 3v3 1 Flag/Bomb and Infection are really fun on this map, so if you've got the people, try it out. And it might sound silly, but I suggest multiflag, even though it's asymetrical... it's quite an experience.
omg this map is awsome i know its gunna get featured your the best 6/5 the interlocking the bases everything is just amazing i think this is as good as KT
Ok, I've quoted a bunch of you guys and put it on the Bungie.net File Share posting of this map. If you want me to remove your quote, just let me know, k?
