Hill 12 Updated by padres1944 Originally by padres1944 and MisterRemy A Revision of Dark Creek, Second Place in last year's Hub of the Dead Contest. Download Hill 12 Suggested Gametypes Save One Bullet is best, but also good for Classic Infection, Alpha Zombie, and customized gametypes. Hold Out is specially made for this map. Suggested Number of Players 8-16, 12 is optimum Description Hill 12 is a revision of the Hub of the Dead 2nd place winning map Dark Creek, by myself and Mister Remy. It is a zombie map like none that you have played before(unless, of course, you have played Dark Creek). The humans have come to their last stand, endlessly assaulted at their hilltop fort by a horde of zombies. While the humans have the advantage of terrain and numbers at the beginning, as they begin to make mistakes and their numbers are whittled, their survival becomes increasingly dependent on their ability to work together. This map is an attempt to both make an Infection map that is fair to both sides, and that requires large amounts of teamwork, something that is largely lost in many Infection games. Gametype Description Hold Out is the custom gametype made for this map. It is a slightly altered version of Save One Bullet, giving the humans slightly higher gravity, altering the number of rounds and starting number of zombies, and slightly altering the Alpha Zombies. What has changed Hill 12 is a revision of the Hub of the Dead 2nd place winning map Dark Creek, by myself and Mister Remy. Hill 12 addresses all problems and concerns to be had with the original map. The wall pieces slightly blocking the exits to the upper zombie spawns have been removed, allowing the zombies greater immediate access to the map. The spawns have been tweaked slightly to make the map a better experience: the human starting points have been rotated so they emphasize moving up at the beginning of the game rather than attempting to spawn camp the zombies, and the respawns have been moved closer to the bottom of the hill to discourage betrayals for ammo(by causing betrayals to almost certainly lead to creation of another zombie). One piece of geometry on the left(if looking at the zombie spawn) of the top area was removed as it was semi-blocking access to the upper portion of the area. However, the thing that was the most controversial in the original map was the turret. In this version, it has been moved back very slightly to decrease the area of the map that is in its line of fire. However, this has the negative effect of giving the operator slightly more protection from attack. I'm still trying to find the perfect balance, but if any of you play it and have some ideas, feel free to let me know. Pictures View from bottom of the hill. View from bottom of hill, opposite side. Overview Zombie spawn area. Final Words As this map already won second place(in a lesser version), I feel that I am safe in saying that I have no doubts that you guys will enjoy this version with its changes for the better. As always, I'm open to all comments and criticism on the map. Download and enjoy! Download Hill 12
oh duuuude this looks sick I can't wait to play it with friends. I like the terrain and everything. it looks pretty solid
looks nicely made and well created. very nice. after playing it with my friends they wanted to upload it themselves. i gave them the link. im surprised this isnt featured. also!!! please add a little mroe pics to show people who only look at pics.
From the post I cant see any problems really! I like how its adapted to play many different gametypes. The only thing i can say would be awesome is tunnels under the map! That could overcomplicate or unbalance so I don't know, but just an idea. I have the first version so I'll update it!
Tunnels would be very unbalancing because they would be easy for the humans to camp. We thought about that during the original designing(it was originally supposed to be the human spawn area), but decided against them for that reason. I've added a custom gametype, Hold Out. Hold Out is the custom gametype made for this map. It is a slightly altered version of Save One Bullet, giving the humans slightly higher gravity, altering the number of rounds and starting number of zombies, and slightly altering the Alpha Zombies.
