HESIOD Hesiod is the gas giant orbited by the moon Metisette. Mettisette is the location of the covenant base redoubt. The UNSC has developed a base withing one of the Trojan Asteroids in the 23 Librae system. Recently we have noticed Covenant light cruisers being deployed from Metisette to Hesiod. It appears as if they've been making planet-wide scans. They're looking for something. We're dispatching three teams of SPARTAN-III headhunters. If the covenant follow normal procedure then they'll have established a few bases around the main dig site. Attacking the dig site directly would be suicide. It's your job to take out the perimeter bases, and then secure the location of the dig site. Good luck. Well, enough of that. Hesiod is a map that I built with the intentions of stealth in mind. The covenant, having already established bases in the area would have the upper hand in every way. Better preparation. Better equipment. Everything. Covenant Advantages: Class system (grunt/jackal, elite, brute, stalker) 4 vehicles (Banshee, Wraith, 2 ghosts) 4 specialized bases: Long-range Armory, Heavy vehicles, Aircraft, and a Human Research Facility Bases to spawn in Overshields SPARTAN-III Advantages: Teamwork (Spawning with a partner) Stealth Enhanced Motion tracker It seems as if the Spartans are incredibly underpowered in this. However, with a combination of cover, good spawns, and stealth, I feel as if they can win. Pictures: This is one of the SPARTAN teams starting spawns. Each of the 3 teams has a specific focus. There is an Assault (spawns with AR, Shotgun, and Mongoose), Demolition (Rocket Launcher, Spartan Laser), and Assassin (Mongoose, BR, and Sniper). Each starting spawn is located near a custom power-up, which gives the user full invisibility, but a normal motion tracker. The half circle located in the center of the picture was originally going to be the location of a Covenant Heavy Weapons base, but the item limit did not allow it. Spartans spawn with poor camo, an SMG, and a magnum. This base was built by the Kig-Yar. Given their stealthy nature, they built it against the only tree in the compound. It's home to two carbines and a beam rifle. The box in the air is a modified SPARTAN-III drop pod. It houses a couple weapons and provides a safe place to spawn. There are three total on the map. In the distance is the Human Research Facility, where the covenant study human weapons and technology. It houses a mongoose, jail cell, rocket launcher, and sniper rifle. The intermediate space between the two bases was where the reconnaissance/scout base was going to be. It would have help a couple ghosts and possibly a prowler. Instead there are two tube corners in the air which contain a Covenant spawn and a ghost. On the left is the aircraft base, home to a banshee and a needler. On the right is the heavy vehicle base, which houses a wraith. In the center is the main dig site. The Covenant class spawn. Each class has a power weapon that spawns at a random time. There is a stalker class (radar jammer, invisibility, mauler, firebomb grenade, and sword), an elite class (needler, dual plasma rifles, carbine, two plasma grenades, and a plasma cannon/turret), a brute class (dual spikers, brute shot, spike grenade, and hammer), and a jackal class (plasma grenade, needler, plasma grenade, and beam rifle). Only when they first spawn can the Covenant choose their class. All other times they are either randomly spawned in a tube or are grunts on the ground (SMG and magnum). Other thing to note: Each base is marked by some sort of light Since you cannot have different starting weapons for different teams, the covenant had to take human weapons There is a method to my madness. The placement of cover was based on this: 4 pieces of cover surrounding each base and one piece withing running distance of a spartan spawn. I'm still making a few little touch-ups on the map. Once they are done I will release an open beta for people to test in this preview. Be expecting it within a day. Any questions, comments, or advice? Post it below.
The Spartans don't get a class, but the starting spawn allows certain teams to have capabilities. The drop pod's are just a tube piece on a wall quarter which gives the Spartans somewhere safe to spawn, as well as providing them with a power weapon.
It was supposed to be released today as an open beta, but I hit some snags with the gametype. Having no experience with territories I had thought during construction that defender traits and attacker traits applied throughout the game, but I didn't realize that it only applies when you're in the territory. Anyone have any advice for this?
