This might seem like a retarded question but I don't know what file extension I have to save my GIMP as to get it to upload to imageshack. Everything that they support merges all layers. Is there a file extension to save it as that doesn't merge layers and can be uploaded to imageshack? Or are there other image hosting sites that work? How do you guys do it?

You save as the standard GIMP file, that doesn't merge layers or whatnot.

Then you go to Save As... and rename the file and upload as a .png, with your GIMP file still there so you can edit and reupload as different named .pngs. Hope this helped.

In photoshop it's a .psd, but I'm not sure of the file extension in GIMP...

    It's .xcf for GIMP.
