Ever tried to make a map that incorporated a health pack, whether it be a remake or your own unique idea? I have seen many maps doing this and in place of a health pack they have used regenerators, but i believe that regenerators restore health for too long, too slowly and are fixed in one place as opposed to a true health pack which restores your health in one big hit and allow you to move around without being stuck in one place.

So the solution I have come up with is to use a custom power-up and tweak the settings to increase the regenerate speed on the settings for a very short period of time to boost a player up to full health. In effect, doing the same thing as a health pack.

I have not tested out my idea, so I am not a 100% sure that it will work, but I am pretty sure it will work. If anyone wants to check it out, feel free to do so and post here about you findings, and what settings you used.

Actually, my map Lumumba District uses this same exact concept and it works perfectly.

That's cool i never saw your map then, in any case, the idea is out for anyone else to use, and hopefully we can both see more maps with this idea in them.

Having a health pack in your map sounds cool in theory, but the great odds are is it's going to detract users from downloading your game type or even your map because it's one more file that they have to download. If you take a look at some of the really great maps here on Forgehub, or a great majority or even pretty much all of the maps that have been featured they don't require a specific game type. These maps usually can be played on Bungie's default game types. I myself have only one slot open at the moment, so if you were to make your map require your game type I wouldn't be able to download both. I mean I could download both but that would take an additional 15 to 20 minutes.

You can go ahead and do it but I just thought I'd express my opinion about it.

The idea is to use it for more casual games, ie Infection, as another impediment to the humans. Also, why not just use regenerators?

I'm using this in my newer game type. Its quite a nifty tool, I have mine set to 3 seconds and 200% regeneration and there are no recovering shields, but I'm doing it in Juggernaut and I made the Juggernaut have lower gravity in order to reach the height at which the powerup sits.

Just clearing something up, I am not looking for an idea nor am I intending use it in the near future, I simply thought of an idea and thought it might be useful for some people out there, that's all.

The reason why regens are completely different to health packs is included in the OP.

And using custom powerups in new and different ways can really change gameplay. I think there is so much you can do with them, only waiting for someone to come up with an idea.
