Bull-****. Just cus you are better with it doesn't make it a skill oriented weapon! I have been killed by GL's more often than rockets... and there are more rocket launchers in Halo: Reach multiplayer than GL's. Its slightly harder to use, but does similar damage in a larger area while allowed more precision. If you make the claim that it is a skill oriented weapon, include the bit about it being like the 'skill oriented' BR from Halo 3; as soon as you learn to use it you are pro and its not that hard to learn. Anyway, good to see negative reception to Stevo's map. Because it makes my overwhelming average maps look spectacular in comparison!
thats not a compliment at all. lol. Rho, im with you on having Compass be the round two map. Loved that map since it had the banshees defiling each other, and was called HERP DERP
I think you're all going a little too over the top on this simply because I'm author of the map. This map plays perfect for my style of gameplay. It took heavy influence from the pit originally being almost identical but slightly condensed without shotguns. The majority feedback was to amend the map condensing it even further and amending the weapon set to as it is now. The teleporters are key to my strategy and work well when I play it. The games ended 2v1 but always started 2v2 we were already 15 kills up (ish) in the games before the partner afk'd or quit. You can't say this map simply does not test skill because it doest suit your playstyle. More so the fact, this map plays as the black sheep testing players ability to adapt gameplays and exit their comfort zones. I also didn't particularly want the map featured because of it's looks. The gameplay for me is perfect and I'm not rating it that because it's mine because it actually suits my gameplay. As people have said time and time again, I play amazing on my own maps but suck at everyone elses.
Lets be nice everybody, the prospect of locking an ANNOUNCEMENT because of pointless arguments makes me want to punch something small and furry in the throat. And we can all agree that such an event would be very, very bad. From this point forward, keep your head about you and don't be too harsh on Stevo. The fact that he makes more mistakes than the rest of us is simply a result of him doing so much more than the rest of us. In other words, don't be a hater unless you have walked a mile in his shoes (a situation I know is impossible; he is always too damn drunk to buy a pair that fits anything but a 7 year old girl.) His map may need more work, but that has been made abundantly clear already and does not need repeating. I'll let the post below slide because it was started before mine. And cus zombie brought the boss-sauce to our barbecue. It would not have been the same without him.
Hey Stevo, dont get the wrong idea here. I have nothing against you if thats what you are getting at. I really dont even mind the map in itself. Sure it could be better, but I could go through the forums, even the featured maps and find something to make any map better. My only problem is the weapon setup, and actually to be more specific, the GLs. They are just way too overpowering and setup in a bad way. One side of the map has the highest ground with the most visualization of the biggest parts of the map. It holds 2 GLs with 8 shots amongst them AND it holds the Rockets. The other side has the sniper, 2 PPs, and the sprints. This sounds like a lot, but its not. To do anything with the PP, you have to push forward out into the open which leaves you vulnerable to the 2 selections of highly explosive weapons on the other side. Or you can poke your head out with that sniper but as soon as you do that, BOOM! There is either a rocket or most likely a bouncing Grenade from the GL which almost always leaves you one shot if not dead. You can only fall back on the health pack so many times. And sprint is only so helpful. If you die, its gone. Anyway, I am not lashing at you bro. Your cool and I know you made changes with suggestions made by testers. I just suck at Reach so this weapon layout is gonna make it very hard for me to survive this round. EDIT: I started typing this before Reflexs above post, k. Too much typing to delete just because he typed his faster than me.
I'll have to say to much gray but design is really awsome and all the guns spawn in the right spots congrats on a great map.
