Haze Created by Stevo Recommended Gametypes: Throwdown Recommended Players: 4 Round 1 of Forge Hub’s 2v2 Throwdown may not even be underway yet, but in keeping with our advance preview policy we’re ready to reveal the battleground which will see both the Winners Bracket and the Losers Bracket fight out their first separated matches during Round 2. Your matches for the opening bouts will begin on Monday, but the wise amongst you will get practicing on this all the same and have a head start on the opposition come Round 2. Lovingly crafted by our very own Stevo, Haze is a fitting follow up to the Round 1 map, Premise, matching the latter’s symmetrical finesse blow for blow. Haze, however, opts for a more divided approach to this base-on-base design principle, drawing strong inspiration from a long time favourite of this Journalist, Halo 3′s The Pit. Sporting a central divide, a dominant central room at one end 'a la Sword', and a series of paths from side to side along the length of the divide, Haze takes this principle even further by expanding the structure around the Shotgun/Needler areas of The Pit. Clever and generous use of Large Braces brings a more interesting approach to lines of sight along the length of the map, but particularly in this more enclosed area, which houses a Sniper in the central corridor. Rockets counterpoint the Sniper, sitting at the other end of the central divide, below the Plasma Grenade nee-Sword room, and a Grenade Launcher and Sprint powerup in each base round out the arsenal in store for our intrepid Round 2 competitors. Familiarity of design alone will not win you the day, however, and you would be well advised to use this next week to hone your approaches and strategies on this map, learning to utilise both aggressive pushes and slow play to have the best chance at victory in the all important second round. Good luck, and have fun. Write-up by Pegasi. Haze - 2v2 Throwdown: Round 2 - YouTube Download Haze Want to see a map featured? Let us know here.
sucks i dont get 2 be in the tourney cause day i was gonna post r team name and stuff signups had closed
i need to play this again, as it used to be pretty fun. it does feel a little big for a 2v2 but whatever. good job Steviecakes.
Meh. i never really got all that into this one. It isn't bad by any means, but it doesn't excite me all that much. Not as much as steve usually does
Congrats Steve-ohhh! I remember testing this ages ago. Good times, good times. Guess crypto couldn't get the video out in time, kinda sucks but life will go on.
Didn't you say the exact same thing in another thread? Edit: Here it is. http://www.forgehub.com/forum/1433518-post66.html They're not going to let you enter the tournament anymore, if that's what you're trying to achieve. You've had a month the time to enter, which seems like a long enough time to do that. Anyway, Haze. The map seemed okay in Forge, but it was a bit hard to quickly see in which base you were. Maybe add some more colours (lights?) to each base to make it easier to orientate. And on another note: I'm not really a fan of having so many power weapons on a 2v2 map. Granted, the Grenade Launcher is only a power weapon in the hands of a skilled player, but I still think it's a bit of an overkill to have 2 GLs and a Rocket Launcher on the map.
This. Well, still, the layout is good, from what I saw when you showed me this Steve. I never actually got a game on it, but I've no doubt it plays well. I think that'd be kind of obvious by the 'Feature'. Great work, man. Congrats.
Plays great. Looks like crap. Too many coliseum walls is the problem I think. Congrats nonetheless. I'll be looking forward to playing this since Noxy and I are going to kick some ass.* *no promises
He's put even me off Brace, Larges tbh, but I agree that the aesthetics don't do justice to the gameplay on this map, which is what counts in a tourney. fix'd
I never really liked the aesthetics of Haze myself tbh... I was just too limited with what I had and what I wanted to achieve. Nonetheless, I really love how the games play and I figure other people do too as it's come this far. I hope you guys enjoy it
What? Shock said by this Sunday?... Dun matter Im working on it now and its almost done. Just gotta put in 'Created by Some red ****' and then 'Haze' as last the bit of text and its done.
So... Two Grenade Launchers, each with 4 shots and 2-minute respawns, both of which are close in proximity to Top Orange, which is the location of Rockets and the definitive holding point in the map. I know my strategy.
