    North American Regionals
The Halo World Championship is down to the final 16 teams in North America. This weekend (February 19-21), those teams will fight for the top 8 spots at the North American Regionals, which guarantees them an invitation to the World Championship Finals in March.

    Format
The tournament will begin with round robin pool play. Each team will play a series against the other teams in their pool. The top 2 in each pool advance to the bracket stage, and most importantly, secure their spot at the Halo World Championship in March. Each series will be a best of 5, which will include a mixture of Team Slayer, Strongholds, and Capture the Flag gametypes.
The pools are organized as follows:

    Pool A
Allegiance - Naded, El Town, Suspector, Cratos
Dream Team - Prototype, Tire Iron, Jesse Peace, Aries
Triggers Pound - Cloud, Danoxide, Hysteria, Assault
Optic - Flamesword, Maniac, Lifestyle, Chaser

    Pool B
CLG - Royal 2, Snakebite, Frosty, Lethul
Noble - Swift Kill, Calm Mentality, Penguin, Rayne
Elevate - Str8 Sick, Nemmasist, Munoz, Goofy
Overdrive - Kephri, Vetoed, Monstercr, Levy

    Pool C
    EG
    - Roy, Lunchbox, Commonly, Snipedown
EnvyUs - Ogre 2, Mikwen, Pistola, Arkanum
Denial - Contra, Predevonator, Huke, Bubudubu
Winterfox - Randa, Ryanoob, Shooter, Domey

    Pool D
    Liquid
    - APG, Heinz, Ace, Unlegit
Renegades - Spartan, Ninja, Victory X, Stellur
Soar - Hunter Jjx, Winntur, Juicy Fruit, SneakEBeaver
Astral Authority - King Nick, Hoaxer, Mr Blakerz, Gabriel

8 teams that advance are drawn into the bracket (details can be found in the spoiler below). The bracket stage will begin with a best of 5 series in the Quarter Finals, followed by best of 7 series' in the Semis and Grand Final.

    • The top finishing team from each Group will be randomly drawn into the Bracket and placed from top to bottom
    • Each top finishing team will face a second place finishing team from a different Group from their own
    • No two (2) teams from the same Group may occupy the same half of the Bracket

The announcers for the event were recently announced by MLG - https://twitter.com/MLG/status/697888624235388928/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw

      My predictions:
Pool A - Allegiance & Optic - I don't really know what to think of Triggers Pound. They haven't been impressive in scrims, but they have some players that have a history of playing significantly better in live events than they do online.

      Pool B
      - CLG & Noble - Tough call between Noble and Elevate.

      Pool C
      - EG & NV - Denial has a decent chance to make it out of this group also.

Pool D - Liquid & Renegades - I don't see Soar or Astral Authority contending.

I'm not even going to attempt to predict bracket play, since we don't know what the brackets will look like.

I think Allegiance was hurt more than anyone by the removal of Breakout. I believe they would've won X Games if it had still been in, and would've had a great chance of winning the HWC.
Without it, they're still a damn good squad, but definitely not as strong as they were with it in.

I really like some of the players on Winterfox, but I haven't been impressed by them at all as a team. When they put everything together they're great, but that's not something that happens often enough for me to trust it'll happen during this event. I'd be more surprised to see them finish 2nd in their group than 4th. Pool C is the toughest one to call though, because EnvyUS and Denial haven't exactly been shining examples of consistency either, and even EG has performed worse than they typically do in their scrims since X Games. That'll be a fun pool to watch.
