First, I feel I must point out some spelling corrections (just 'cause I'm an ass like that); reallly->really; diffrent->different; im->I'm; commosion->commotion; trilligy->trilogy; tosleep->to sleep; thats->that's. The problem isn't with the game, you're saying, the problem is with the genre. And as I pointed out (if you'd bothered to read my post), it's natural that you, who bought the game expecting an FPS, would be disappointed. Your problem is that you want an FPS, but Halo Wars is (and was advertised to be for a long time) an RTS. My advice to you is to wait for ODST to come out, if you want another Halo FPS... EDIT: I guess what I'm saying is this: Halo Wars doesn't fail, you fail for thinking that it was going to play anything like the original Halo...
Its an RTS! you sick ****! if it was a "hand to hand combat" game, it would not be developed by ensemble, it would not be halo wars. it would be a prequel to the halo series, which would never happen so close to the release of halo 3, and with the ending halo 3 had. they would never allow it. to quote dr. cox: wrong, wrong, wrong wrong, wrong, wrong WROOOONGGG
Can I buy you lunch or something? I mean, you pretty much just summed up my mental response to this thread... Actually no. I know quite a few people who bought Halo Wars because it's the first RTS to play reasonably well on a console, and because the graphics are pretty incredible. Besides, busting $80 for the map pack is just not worth it when you can wait a month...
Halo Wars has been and is the only RTS game I have ever played. Coming from Halo 3 being the primarily only game I play, I do have to say that I really enjoyed Halo Wars. Even though one of the primary reasons I bought the game was to obtain the Mythic Map Pack through the Limited Edition, I still have to say that the game was surprisingly fun. For a newcomer to RTS I thought something of this nature would be incredibly boring but from my standing point it is not. Yes, the campaign can be short and sweet but as for others in this thread mentioned RTS's are built upon Multiplayer. Like Father like Son both genres of Halo Based games are built around the Multiplayer. Now, if anyone disagrees upon the statement said about the Multiplayer I don't see where I went wrong. Halo 3's Multiplayer stands on a higher ground and surpases any other games multiplayer in any other aspect as one can tell. The Halo Wars Multiplayer can bring short games whether your opponent has an intriguing stategy or it can withstand long games when two players knowlegable of the game are put up against each other. One thing that I was thinking about that would be unique to an RTS which I doubt would ever be done is a two versus two match like in Halo Wars where one player on a team has the ability to control the whole army while their partner is actually down in the playing field acutually shooting and fighting. Which the mode descripted that I say would be combination of both a FPS and an RTS. Sadly something like I said above is nonsense and only is a wish by myself that wouldn't be done. But other wise I still like Halo Wars for being Halo Wars.
It wouldn't sell; if you have a graphics card good enough to run it, chances are you are playing better strategy games. Halo Wars is a shitty RTS.
Microsoft told Ensemble that they were being shut down before they finished the game, they weren't all fired because they did a horrible job, get your facts straight.
I completely agree with the OP. Seriously what were they thinking! Reminds me of that time I bought Mario Kart for the SNES, boy was I pissed! It was Mario right? But there was like way too much driving and crap, they totally forgot about all the platform jumping that was in all the other Mario games...! It was almost like they tried to make it a completely different game or something, but it was Mario?! Utter confusion! They really dropped the ball on this one!
i agree with buddacrane, you guys im not complaining that it was an Rts im just saying i thought it would be better than what it is, i find the new one a very boring and put me to sleep game (now i get to listen to lawful chili go all crazy agian haha)
Lol... It's an RTS game, Ensemble said it several times... If you don't like that genre then why get it! All RTS games are the same, there is very little that can be done to change it.
i new it would be an RTS game!!!! i bought it cause it looked cool than i played about 15 games on it total and decided "hell this is so boring and takes too long" so i hate it, i new it would be a game like that i just thought it would be fun but the games put me to sleep
I mostly bought halo wars for the maps but it proves to be very fun if you are on a 2v2 or 3v3 playlist and its very very fun if you play co-op campaign, i had a blast playing it but it gets old very very fast
That doesn't change the fact that it's a much better game. RTS BY DEFINITION USUALLY TAKE 1+ HOUR(S).
