This is a copy of my thread on Waypoint, which can be found here.

My friend Eternal Aviator and I were discussing possible additions to Halo 5 and we came up with this: a merge of Warzone and Search and Destroy, with a team system like the one used in Left 4 Dead.

So, one side is the UNSC, playing as Spartans. Their primary objective is to defend a Forerunner Core, which they have found and are either loading up for transport to the Infinity or are using as a power source. Their secondary objective is to destroy a relay point that the Prometheans are using to warp in. Defending the core successfully for the match will result in a win, and destroying the relay point would be an instant win.

The opposing side would be the Prometheans. Their primary objective is to destroy the aforementioned Forerunner core, and their secondary objective is to protect their relay point. Protecting the relay point but NOT destroying the core would result in a loss.

Now, this actually can be balanced out. The Prometheans are actually Prometheans: players would play as Knights, and would unlock variants and classes as their team REQ level increases. At the higher levels they could even play as low-tier bosses, such as Luminaries or Dignitaries. The Prometheans would also be able to capture tertiary objectives to advance, so they would spawn closer to their primary objective.

These tertiary objectives would also provide further bonuses, working as rally points of sorts. They could be used to "summon" Promethean allies, such as a squad of Soldiers, a pack of Crawlers, and at higher levels could summon actual bosses on their side, such as Endurance-of-Will or a Warden Eternal avatar. HOWEVER, ONLY ONE BOSS COULD BE ACTIVE AT A TIME. These allies would cost REQ individual levels*, like using a REQ in Warzone. This would not affect which class of Knight the player could choose.

The humans' REQs would require that the player has either a copy of the card in their inventory, or the item in question certified. It would not consume the card, but would instead be on a cooldown based on the rarity.

To balance playing as a Promethean, they have increased health, but they have the same weak points like the Knight enemies, and they are unable to deploy Watchers to resurrect themselves. Grenades would have reduced effect on them unless the impact hits a weak point, and they can only fire Splinter Grenades. They do have an unlimited supply like the AI, but they are on a cooldown.

*The team REQ level would not be lowered. That just determines the level of REQ that the Prometheans can acquire. And most importantly: THESE MUST NOT BECOME ACTUAL REQS THAT REQUIRE CARDS. They should remain a core feature of the gamemode, and are not to become a thing of chance.
    -end of quote-

So, what're your thoughts on this, everyone?

*Edit as of 8:46 PM, 12/11/2016 to fix a paragraph break that I hadn't noticed in my original reformatting of the Waypoint post for here
