In this video, I show you that it's possible to have drivable gamemodes. I'm excited to see what some people will do with this. Enjoy!
Hey @Wally12 , you can spawn flags with other objects just by setting a Game Mode Label to CTF Spawn/Return. I just tried it with the Ball Spawn, Stronghold, and even a weapon pad and they all spawned flags for my team. Four of them in the CTF custom game! Since those objects have a Normal Physics option, I assume vehicle welding will work in customs. The flag stand also spawned the ball for Assault when I set the Game Mode Label to Ball Spawn. Didn't try more ball settings yet. Setting the ball or flag stands to be Strongholds didn't work, unfortunately.
Yeah, I did mess with that but didn't bother mentioning it in the video since it doesn't work for this purpose. Unfortunately, it works but not with vehicle welding as when you drive the flag immediately falls through the Warthog and onto the ground. It doesn't matter what object you use to act as the flag spawn because it's the same result across the board. The flag itself seems to have interesting physics. You can't punch it, shoot it, or bounce grenades off it. Heck, you can just walk through it. But yet, it has programmed collision physics for the bottom that allow it to not just fall through a floor, terrain, etc.
Oh right, like how WyvernZu had to use a floor tile or something to catch the flag for that one-sided CTF game type. Does that mean we can weld a flag catcher to the vehicle? Do collisions and velocity work on the flags? Can we swing a floor tile at a flag and it'll go flying? Lol. And does being able to drive the flag return base around change things up even if the flag just gets pooped out of the vehicle? Oh crap, if one team got both bases together, that game could end quickly. Unless you had multiple flag spawn and scoring bases and you set the winning score real high. We should try that out. Maybe make it so we need to destroy our own team's vehicle-base to keep the other team from racking up the score. Let me know if you want any help, especially if you can come up with more fun new game types. Oh yeah, did you ever set a Mantis to phased physics? It's worth a chuckle. With normal physics and a forward movement script it almost makes a good AI sentry except rotate scripts don't work on it, but I was thinking we could rotate the floor under it. Just thought I'd toss that idea out for you since you're doing fun vehicle stuff.
