Normal weapon pick-ups work as normal I believe, and I think random ordinance simply picks a random weapon from the list (set in gametype) and spawns it at a random location.

I don't know what "as normal" means. I'm quite new to halo. do they respawn?

Ah, if you're that new, then I will explain. The weapons will either start spawned or not at the beginning of the round (determined by one of the settings, "spawn at start"). Once the weapon has been picked up or sufficiently moved, the respawn timer will start to count down. At the end of the timer, it will be ready to respawn again.

Now, I have never gotten too detailed on the way it works, so I can't recall if it will respawn immediately or if the weapon has to be dropped first, but once it does respawn, the cycle begins again.

It will respawn after the timer expires but will never exceed the map maximum count. If there is one weapon spawn and the count is set to 1, then it must be dropped first before another one will spawn. in that case, the first will despawn (garbage collected) before the next one is spawned.

If the count is set to 2, then a second one will spawn as soon as the timer is expired. But then one of the two must be dropped before a third will spawn.

There are two sets of weapon spawning in H4.

    Ordinance and weapon.

Ordinance drops include INIT (which will spawn at start of round and according the timer you set it to), Random (one spawn will occur on the map between min and max timer values since last spawn and only on one random ord drop on the map at a time), and objective (like random, but all objectives spawn per the spawn sequence together).

Weapon drops are like Reach - they have an initial spawn (or not) and a timer and a max count to decide when the next spawn occurs.

Has anyone figured out what user data is? I searched but it doesn't seem so.

Behold, the Super Jump Pads featured in "Morpheus", a new level by me, (GT ExTerrestr1al, final version shared for you to examine this technique).

Thanks go to the creator of the jumppads video posted here. As soon as I saw it, I realized I could re-make one of my favorite levels ever, which was a custom map for JEDI KNIGHT. But to do so, I ended up innovating w/ the jump pads a bit.

Anyway, I set about just using the combo of phased mancannon + trait zones like in the video, but extending it a bit. This is where part of the "Super" name comes in.

Here is a screenshot of my new level to give you a visual...

Now, you can't see it in this screenshot, but there is a trait zone set to higher jump height and less gravity than normal which extends at the same angle away as the block, shield and mancannon pieces.

    Mancannon - Heavy
    One-Way Shield Door Small
    Block piece
    Trait zone

Trait Zones - (less grav, more jump, rectangular, similar dimensions as jump pad but with its top set quite high. You can even set a 2nd trait zone higher up and much wider to allow the player some leeway and give the ability to jump very far distances. (Example, in my level, a player can jump a distance of 2.5 colluseum walls and a hieght of around 1.5 colluseum walls in the same jump)

Angle all pieces the same at first. Then adjust angles as needed. Trait zone allows only a player who has been shot by the cannon to gain incredible jump height. trajectory of setup allows for many possibilities.

One-Way Shield Doors - you may be asking, what's this for? How does this make a jump pad "super"? Well, one aspect is that it definitely creates a visual cue that the player should jump on it. It looks more obvious. The BEST benefit is that it actually takes the very narrow space used by the mancannon and because of its own inherent "bounce" it makes the effective jump pad area to be close to 2x2 like the shield doors themselves. It is then very hard to hit any part of the orange colored shield and NOT have the mancannon shoot you away.

    Here's another screenshot:

    Spawning on Erosion, Halo 4

Hey, I'm hoping you could help.

I've had a play on forge, made a little grift ball court and cut off the outside of the map so the game is actually located in the interior (attempting to avoid the exterior of the map to make a smaller playground). All my initial spawn points are set up, RVB. However when I test run the map on custom games, it spawns me outside my grid (in the exterior of the map). I've checked over and in forge mode there are no spawn points or anything to be making this happen yet it happens every time! It's unbelievably frustrating. Do you know what I've left out or what I've done wrong? I've tried anti spawn areas and they don't work either. If anyone would like to add me on XL and help me, I'd be much appreciated!

    Hopeless noob at Forge,

    Chrystal :)

I suggest you double check that the initial spawn points that you have set up for your team are not forged into adjacent pieces. If they are on phased mode they could easily have been put into the pieces you were trying to place them on top of. Having the initial spawn points inside the blocks around them will effectively stop you from spawning on them. Also, make sure you have regular respawn points on the map because if you don't after your first death you will respawn outside the map.

    Hope this helps,

it sounds to me like she doesn't have any respawns, just initial spawns. that would certainly cause an issue... though, I was confused by the fact that I loaded up a map last night in Forge mode and it put me on a respawn intially, instead of an initial spawn. weird.

This. You should check your respawns, and make sure you have enough of them on the map. Also double check if your spawns aren't team specific whereas you're either on a different team, or in a FFA gamemode.

In Halo 4, whenever you join a game, it will spawn you on top of a respawn point instead of an initial one.
This is probably due to 343i's lack of experience, so I'm hoping they'll fix it sometime.

    Questions (hope you dont mind!)

1- By static spawns and dynamic spawns, do you mean dynamic spawns are neutral spawnpoints (that can spawn blue or red) and static spawns as being labelled defender/attacker (that can spawns only blue or only red).

Is there more weight towards spawning on a static spawn (labelled red) than spawning on a dynamic spawn (labelled neutral)?

2- What is the point of lock? (left on d-pad)

3-How do I access the X,Y,Z coordinates to make fine adjustments, I couldnt find it last time

Thanks- I just got into this forging, didn't realize it was as fun as matchmaking lol
