This 14 day thing is nice, and I'm glad to have played these maps. Though i feel no interest in them and will most certainly not buy. There's nothing interesting in them for me...
MS would be fearful of money loss unfortunately. Though honestly, I'd like to see some comparison numbers for Gears and see how much it actually affected it (positively or negatively). I also wonder how much of that DLC strategy was EPICs alone. Epic seems to be able to call the shots with Gears, even though MS publishes. @Titmar: Personally I find that just as bad. I don't wanna see overcompensating either. I mean, Haven's great but yeah playing it a bunch of times in a row gets stale. Playing Complex any times more than once super sucks haha. So even if the DLC is on Haven's level I'd still not want to play them over and over and wear them out. If they were on Complex's level though..I definitely wouldn't want to be stuck with it every game. Hell, the reason I avoided BTB was because of Ragnarok's overplayedness (not a word but w/e). Which, I guess if the DLC is more common now, at least downgrades Ragnarok's weighting lol.
I think you'd really like CTF on Harvest. I had a boss game of it earlier. Felt real classic and awesome. It's my current favorite map.
I haven't even downloaded them yet haha. Total laziness. For a second I thought they were on disc DLC and I didn't have to DL them and I got excited. I was actually interested in Harvest though... from purely a canon sense because I read the books and Contact Harvest was great. Edit: @Faunch: Last time I played BTB was before they had the weekly update that decreased Ragnarok's weighting. Might be different now.
There will always be a hemorrhage map, As in a map that is chosen 99% of the time. But since we don't have a hemorrhage map, As in map the fills most BTB desires where stuck with exile. I don't mind the DLC maps, Which annoys me even more because the default maps are crap imo and the game could've shipped with the DLC maps(And should've). I don't buy DLC so if the 14day trail thing happens then I'm stuck with crap maps without a Forge world to recreate the DLC maps in.
Dunno where exactly the nutduster post was that WWWilliam quoted but: I'm pretty sure Harvest was that map. Its concept art was shown a really, really long time ago (one of the first shown for the game) and the original MS access thing (for people in the "business" to gain access through from that MS free crap website) stated there would be 10 new weapons (that happened) and ten new environments (we got 9 and a remake). So what I think happened was Harvest was originally slated to be in the game but was cut to DLC to make room for Ragnarok. There may have been other reasons why Harvest was the chosen map to wait a month, but I can definitely see why they would do this in order to include a remake (and a remake that closely resembles a Halo staple).
It was Harvest, as I pointed out the bit in the IGN vid to Nutduster. As for "making room" for Ragnarok, yeah, I bet they were really pushed for space on a 2 disc game....
The Concept Art released for Harvest made it look so much more epic. But it still looks like a great map, the others look rather disappointing.
I'm so disappointed with halo 4 it hurts... I'll just trick my mind into thinking they'll make it better.
I hope Harvest didn't get bumped for Complex... lol It's just semantics. I imagine they had about 15 or 16 nearly completed maps sitting in front of them, and somebody had the job of sorting them out into coherent map packs and 10 launch maps. I'm sure there were probably other candidates for the title "Harvest" too. Overall I think the launch maps were decent, barring Complex. I mean they're not amazing, but they're fresh layouts, and they reasonably fun. Ragnarok is pretty sweet imo. As much as everybody clamors on about DMRs breaking it, it plays exactly the same as it did in Halo 3 for me. The only thing I find different and game-altering there is PV, and it's not much more than enhanced radar. Definitely doesn't break anything.
They're back (kind of). All Halo 4 Button Combos FOUND! Glitch Tutorial (BXR, Double Shot, Double Melee) - YouTube
Double melee has always been in visibly but hasn't done any damage since Halo 2. There was no BXR equivalent in Halo 3, and whilst there was one in Reach it required you to be host iirc, and I think it may have been patched as well. There hasn't been a double shot since Halo 2 either, though tbh it's hard to tell how much faster that double shot is than the standard RoF on the BR.
So I'm a little late to the party on this one, but apparently a bunch of people are being unjustly banned from H4 for downloading the Crimson maps for free... During that whole slip up, Microsoft tweeted: ...but I guess that's not very true.
Wait, so now after 343's ass-covering (via BS Angel) it comes out that Microsoft support admitted it was a mistake? Derp. derp derp derp derp
