We have the same opinion (especially about everyone hating the game) I just played some DLC matches, and got my very first Untouchable in Infinity Slayer on Adrift. (Noob, i know ) And im quite enjoying the forge too, im building an yourney infection map, and everything turned out to be awesome so far. Halo 4 is awesome.
The file shares not being up yet isn't as big a deal at the start of the game because the amount of content hasn't grown to the point where it's hard to find things over an on console search. However, it will become a bigger and bigger problem as time goes on, and already I'm finding annoying situations in which I find maps I'd like to dl but don't want to spend the time searching for.
Finally got that damn 20th stomp and finished those glitchy, retarded achievements. With the amount of games I've been playing in the Crimson playlist, they've actually grown on me a little. Slayer plays horribly on Shatter, needs to be objective. KOTH especially allows for much better map flow and player movement.
I think that not enough people gave the game a chance at first. The community complained that Halo 4 had let them down, but IMO it has been more a case of the community letting Halo 4 down. However, it seems to me that the people who have stuck with the game thus far are starting to appreciate what an amazing game it is now, and we're finally starting to gather more positivity towards it, despite all of the mishandlings by Microsoft and 343.
I'm friends with Titmar and join the right parties, so his post is directed to all the complainers who aren't me. Sucks to be you, haters. But seriously Halo 4 is a bad game.
Well yes, when you have just a few. It becomes a problem when you have 10-20 different people to get maps from, which I haven't gotten to yet but it has happened.
true, i have not gotten to that collect-em-all stage yet, but im sure it will come and then i will probably be equally annoyed.
I just hope that a couple less-than-thorough magazines pick this up and accidentally interpret it as MS deciding that DLC should be shareware. That would be a hilarious mess for them to clean up, particularly with the prices they're charging.
You know, I'm okay with a "play them in matchmaking for compatibility sake". Gears did this. Everyone could play the maps in matchmaking if someone else in matchmaking had bought the content. If no one bought it then they never came up. People who bought them could use them outside of matchmaking in customs and stuff. MS should have played it off like this was there intention and actually done it as well. It gives those of us who bought them actual opportunities to play them without having to go into a separate playlist.
Are you talking like joining a random team slayer playlist and it having a chance of putting you in a DLC playlist if everyone has it? Reach had a system like that.
No, Reach had a system that said, "Oh, you bought DLC? Well **** you." It was an absolute miracle to see Breakpoint pop up in Invasion, and this was before they added in the Forged maps. I think I may actually agree with CB, if it let us play more dlc outside of specific playlists I'd be all for it. At least so far there have been a lot more instances of DLC in other playlists, but then again that may have had more to do with the screw up than anything.
Even despite the restrictions in Forge, it seems like every Custom game lobby we play there is always a new minigame that has such a fresh and fun approach. However, I wish they'd have the damn file share system up already, I've put off releasing some projects until it is up, which is pretty annoying considering they're prepped and ready to go.
Actually, about 1 out of 20 games I play in Reach pulls up a lobby with the Anniversary maps. I never bought the other DLC.
Probably because a lot more people would have bought CEA the game and just happened to get the maps as a side bonus, versus just having to buy the maps.
Microsoft pretty much requires 3 Map DLC because "its tradition"(that makes them money), Even if bungie made awesome maps(idk never buy DLC) and bungie liked the maps and stuff, Bungie weren't very proactive about incorporating them and bungie aren't douche bags so there was a reason behind that. Which I'm 99% sure Bungie wanted there Matchmaking/Custom game/any maps to come from Forgeworld(AKA the community, which strengthens it, Because there whole promotion thing about forgeworld was to have a community driven game) not DLC.(Which splits up player base, Makes microsoft money) Which I am fine with since the sentiment was nice only if it was implemented a little better would of been amazing(Chosen better maps for MM,etc) As for DLC in Halo 4 they have the maps in a DLC playlist and as randomly chosen in other playlists if everyone has DLC, I think? Which is a good way to go if your using the DLC model.(Not good enough for me to ever want to buy DLC though)
Im pretty sure it'll still try to pair you up with people that have the DLC. Along with skill level n such.
