you're funny, also that Z fighting was SOO bad, i really hope that there is an easy way to get rid of it.. hopefully they do a small update at launch to add that stuff they forgot/ignored
there probably isn't, but if you aren't lazy when you forge theres probably no worry about z-fighting on a finished map
Seriously, I hate to be that guy, but we don't allow leaked video or audio on our forum. You've all been warned a lot, and posting the exact same video a second time after I removed it isn't the best decision. Just hold tight on the videos, you'll be able to post all of them in a few days when Halo 4 is official released.
Well the whole bit about "No spoilers/leaks" was removed from the title of the thread, not defending the guy, just saying, you should put it back for the time being to make sure this doesnt happen again
Man, that was a pretty noobily forged version of lockout but even so..it looked like a whole, real map. I think the more talented forgers will really be able to work with these pieces and make great maps. My only problem is that the maps will really all feel mostly the same, only some will look better than others.
That Z-fighting was terrible, but the map did look pretty sloppily put together. Hopefully it was just that the guy who made the map just threw pieces together instead of some other reason.
Despite that, thank you for keeping us leak free. That was a small one but those often lead to some kid thinking "oh, everybody is posting leaks, I might a well put in a entire campaign mission." The map looked as though it was made rather sloppy as said before but also rather quickly without much experience, I'm sure as we progress into it we will develop to make better looking maps. And Stevo, I hope you are right about not having to worry about z-fighting very much.
Just had a thought, Overshield,Camo,Custom power up? Are they coming back? Trait zones are cool,Killstreak overshields and camo AA's are cool and stuff. But the little orbs you can place on map and give specific traits to one person on a respawn timer? I've always just assumed they where coming back but 343i have taken a lot of stuff out unnecessarily so curious to know if its been confirmed anywhere
I started forging in 3, and I think the removal of the nudge feature is an enormous step backward for no reason except that 343 doesn't seem to understand forge. Yes there are and will be workarounds; no, that doesn't make it easy to overlook that they took out something easy and have backed us into a painful corner with this again. What's next, removing phased physics and expecting us to merge the Halo 3 way?
Oh you didnt hear? they took out the physics option jk I find what 343i is doing to forge is like what treyarch and IW are doing to sniping, cutting it down, making it easier and more generic, but making it difficult to do unless your doing it a certain way (magnets/quickscoping) On that note, I'm still pretty pumped for this game even though the drawbacks are present
This is not confirmed, but i hope its coming back. Its an small but useful feature, on your MLG/Slayer maps.
They're back in ordnance form, so I don't see a reason not to do them in the old ways, but, then again, it's 343 and CA.
To be honest with you, if you have to phase things together so far that it creates any more than just a tiny tiny sliver of possible z fighting then you should probably use different pieces. And if you really want to be lazy then use the magnets. That would be even easier than nudging. Quite honestly I've always found the maps that really stick into my head are the ones where the maker has found a workaround to do something different. It meant they really put thought into the map instead of simply using what is there. So no I'm not upset at the removal of nudging.
BSAngel didn't list power ups in her list but I coulda sworn I remember hearing that they were back and now listed as custom 1, 2, 3 (so they could be all change, but would default to their original if not). Maybe those options are still in custom game options and the power ups are just in ordinance drop menus only? Kinda sucks but whatever.
that Lockout remake was pretty sloppily forged, but i was happy to see how the lighting and pieces look in Erosion... looks ****ing great! also, the green light in the tunnel by shotgun spawn looked pretty cool too excited to see whats gonna be done with things like that
I and a lot of other people try to use pieces in ways they're not supposed to be used so the map looks cohesive and not like a pile of forge objects. That usually requires significant use of nudging objects.
Sorry, I didn't realize it was considered a leak seeing as how we already know about all the forge/regular maps officially (except maybe Vortex). Figured that since this this wasn't some leaked info, and just a video of someone's forge map, it would be okay.
probably why you were not straight up banned. If it were even campaign or spartan ops, anything story related you probably would have been banned as well. But what you linked was still 'leaked' because it's from an unofficial source on an unofficial copy of the game.
This seems really silly; it's perfectly fair to be upset with 343 at the removal of nudging. I've tried going back and forging in halo 3, something I used to do for hours on end, something I thought I was pretty good at, and after forging in reach, I just couldn't put up with it. It isn't laziness that Nutduster is speaking from, it's the ease of use which allowed more freedom and precision that he's talking about. And magnets are going to be useless for anyone that wants to use objects creatively. This seems like the same thing that people complained about when reach was announced, that forge was becoming 'too easy' for people to use, which is absolutely ridiculous. The process involved when making a map does not matter, because you don't look at or play the process. You play the result. We'll find a workaround, sure, but it just becomes another impediment in the creative process, and nothing like that should happen unnecessarily like it is now.
