even if it is its own gametype, why would they change it from a bomb to an oddball? the whole point of grifball is the bomb detonating as soon as you plant it, thats even where the name comes from. if nothing is exploding, its not grifball. might as well just be one flag.
from the episode of rvb from which the game was inspired and based on. "That’s why the ball carrier turns orange - everyone in the game is constantly trying to hammer-smash Grif and even if he scores, he explodes. Either way, Sarge wins"
I dont think they've said anything yet, so i think the final release of the game E will be a huge answer to seceral questions; if they give us VIP and fix the flag, then they listen to their community big time. Those are the two things people seem to care the most about. Seriously though, taking away the ability to drop the flag AND making it auto-grab? Thats dumb; what if imin the middle of an extermination with my sword, that costs me the flag and possibly the game. Or, say ive got rockets and incinerator gun; why the **** would I want the flag? Seriously, thats gotta be fixed.
Yeah... there's been quite a lot of discussion about what 343i did to the gametype over on the GrifballHub and most of us want at the very least rounds back in when someone scores. We've even been given a First to X Wins options so we have control over if the round ends at 3 scores like in matchmaking or not. Don't quote me on that specific trait yet. The excuse for one round is 'faster gameplay' but I'd much rather have the game reset after a score and everyone start off on equal footing for the most part instead of being able to score in rapid succession. And yes, we want the kaboom back too.
yeah, I think they'll end up setting the round score goal back to 1 if grifball comes back into MM for H4
I imagine it probably has a lot to do with spawn killing, but personally I like the idea of not having rounds in grifball. I prefer a more fluid experience. If the spawns work better, it could be really sweet.
well, I feel like if one team can get a good spawnkill going, then they can get three easy points instead of just one, like in regular grifball. My fear is that the value of spawnkilling will be valued threefold, making people go for it more often and ignoring the ball more which can lead to some pretty detached gameplay. I think the grifball community will realize this pretty quickly, though, especially since they hate stat-padding so much...
Yeah - that's the drawback, but if they address that in a coherent manner, I could see it being a lot more fun. I mean, it's really just a spawning issue. More spawn points would effectively solve it.
Am I correct in thinking that you didn't go in the 3rd person when using the Thruster Pack in the old build? That makes it look much less appealing which is disappointing since I was probably looking forward to it the most out of all the AAs.
not necessarily. as long as one team is controlling the spawns nearest the objective, they could rack up points by not letting the opposing team get close enough to defend it, even if they are able to spawn. i just see too many problems with this What team sport do you continue playing, without resetting, after a point is scored? mayybe you could say basketball, but even then, the team that just scored still has some time to get set for defense.
Scorch, you and I seem to share opinions often, but I just walked in the door home from PAX and let me tell you, H4 is amazing. Regen Field is very slow; useful but slow. Auto Sentry does little damage and is really just a distraction. Didn't see Jetpack in action. Thruster Pack moves approximately 1 foot in whatever direction lol. Using the magnum with the flag was an effective way to make someone back off and have your teammate press in, and with H4's increased movement speed and jump height, I slipped away marginally easy. The other perks and stuff you can ask me specific things about, anyone can feel free to ask my impression, I played both MP CTF and Spartan Ops.
