Even still, a pistol out of thin air? Come on. I don't see it as an issue if you're forced to use your secondary if it's a pistol, but out of thin air, and you can't drop the flag in cases of emergencies? Come on 343. You draw us in with an awesome map, then you do this to us. 343i's New Motto: For everything awesome we do, we're gonna do something that you don't even want.
Maybe it's just in my head but did they change the DMR sound? I like it more. The tank moving sound might be my favorite so far.
So has it actually been CONFIRMED that you can't drop the flag, or are we just having a nice little speculatathon based on gameplay who, I quote "has not played Halo in a long time?" If this is true I do see the issue here for flag juggling and such, though the fact that you have a weapon now when you have the flag helps tremendously. As for the pistol, it really doesn't bother me so much as gameplay element. I won't be yelling "This doesn't seem physically possible!" while running around with my pistol out in flag in Halo 4. I think I'll just roll with it and focus on more important issues.
I think it's more or less a balancing mechanism. If you have a pistol secondary, it should take that, if not, it's your choice to go in there like that. Though, the flag carrying with a pistol thing really isn't that much of an issue, that I can agree with, though I would love the mechanic a whole lot more if it took your secondary if it's a pistol, it just makes sense. But the real question is that everyone debating is, why is it fused to my hand? What is preventing my character from dropping the flag?
Fuuaaarrrrk that map looks awesome. Added it to my Halo 4 maps list thread. Im thinking that is big team 8v8 compatible otherwise why would there be a tank? Also DILLIGAF about the flag issue? I dont mind it honestly.
3 new support upgrades: Dexterity: Faster reloads and weapon swaps Explosives: Increases blast radius, decreases damage received Ordnance Priority: More frequent ordnance drops
@FlyingShoe Bravo indicated thusly, and he's played plenty of Halo 4. I'm not sure who you were referring to with your comment. I'm sure a comb through the gaf will yield some remark from Frankie and friends. It was fairly well discussed, from what I saw earlier. I think the flag-drop capacity will probably come back though. It feels like they're using random **** to throw us off so we're not as critical of the final game when it launches. The button layouts in the E3 build were silly, and those leaks of the shotty in loadouts was hilarious. Not that they're straight up trolling, but I guess it feels like they're throwing weird experiments at us that normally wouldn't make it out of the dev offices. It could be a way of getting more focused feedback or something, but it feels like it's a means of manipulating the fans. Not necessarily in the negative sense though. More like motivating.
I really like the feel that they are going for with these maps. They seem more...halo then maps from reach. I don't know I just love a beautiful btb map and I have already seen two! I am excited. A little more info. I have not watched the whole thing yet but right off the back you can see a new armor ability be used (once he gets in the game) At about 5:25 he gets a "comeback kill" not sure if it's new or not but I just noticed it. I think that would work the way like bf3 where if you do terrible then you get a kill you get extra points for a comeback. At about 5:30 you can see a big "range" icon on the dmr scope telling him how far away the ghost is. There is a timer saying when a flag will reset. Around 12:11 you see an auto sentry turret in action. At about 13:20 BEAM RIFLE!!! Halo 4 Exile PAX 2012 CTF Gameplay! - YouTube
So my thoughts on the Flag Situation: -Automatically obtaining a magnum from picking up the flag is stupid. It would be legit if you were allowed to use a magnum when you had one out already when picking up the flag. -Not being able to drop the Flag is the first unrealistic feature that I've seen that actually takes away depth from competitive Halo. Unless 343i literally wants themselves labeled as stupid, I personally believe that this was a certain build to test so players didn't constantly hear "flag dropped/flag taken" while playing. Plus, I don't think it would be fair if you are stuck being unable to throw grenades (maybe that'll be the button to drop the flag). I could be wrong though. -I want to hear in the storyline explaining how spartans can't drop a flag one handed, but can throw an oddball.
Explanation for the last part: super glue Anyways addition to my comment on the last page that had new info you can now see how much exp remaining untill you rank up in game. You are also rewarded for driving a flag carrier with a medal.
ERMAGERD BERM RERFEL!!!!!! Hot damn why cant November 7th come quicker... and how the **** am I gonna concentrate on exams when Halo 4 is just around the corner?!?
Halo 4 looks super promising so far. the flag carrying and a couple of other things are a little sketchy, but this looks like a game ill enjoy for quite a long time
Was it even confirmed that you can't drop the flag? And who really cares if you randomly pull out a magnum?
People who like(d) CTF? And i'm talking about pre-Reach CTF not "One Flag on Boardwalk". Relic, Highground, Last Resort, e.c.t. were memorable experiences. The fact that you can kill someone without dropping the flag and alerting everyone to your presence is ****ing huge. Gone are the days where you had to crouch behind a corner and try to stealthily beat down someone following you. Not that sprint doesn't pretty much kill casual CTF on its own (which is probably why they give the flag carrier a pistol, to stand a better chance of escape).
I think the new map exile is the crash site of the FUD (forward unto dawn) In ducains newest. Ideo if you pause at 0:38 you can see on top of the canyon what appears to be the remains of a crashed frigate you can see thrusters in the right places and stuff.
