You want them to walk around hunched with a permanent shrug and mouths that don't close properly? Or perhaps you are talking more about their rougher character. None of the warrior philosophy that they got in 2 and 3, and more like the Brutes from 2. The only problem I have with that Jackel is it's neck is bigger than it's head and body. Everything else is fine.
The Flood coming out of nowhere in Halo CE is easily in the top 3 best gaming moments for me. Freaked me the **** out.
If you google 'Halo 4 jackal', you'll get some much clearer pictures of the jackal. It doesn't look nearly as bad as that picture. I think he looks a little more badass actually. And yes, I want them to be more rough looking. Like they have sharper claws, their mouths are scarier looking and they just have a more menacing look to them.
A mix of the two would be nice. It's definitely cool to have a very intimidating foe like what's seen in Halo wars, especially because they no longer have any allegiance to the covenant, so any morals and religious beliefs that defined their stature prior is otherwise reduced. Not gone, because I believe the elites are still a 'noble race' per se, but you can't forget they're 9 foot aliens.
I like the bird-like aspect of Kig-yar. That's what made them my favorite covenant species. Having unusual species - namely avians and arthropods - is one of the things that really gives Halo it's character. I'm not a big fan of the more generic reptilian appearances. I always thought Kig-yar would be fun as playable characters for a sort of spin-off minigame. Multiplayer mind you - not vs. AI. Class based with skirmishers and jackals - bring back the beam rifle - it would be really intense, and really fast. Maybe base it on VIP. I would buy that DLC.
I heard (sorry i dont know where, i think Ducain or somethin) That the jackal weve seen here is only one kind and the rest wont look like awesome velociraptors. [br][/br]Edited by merge: If that was the only kind of jackal, and it was unexplained ( like with some biological reason) then, yes id be upset. But from were i see it, some things gotta change! If not gameplay which nobody wants, please halo 4 give us more exciting enemies than reach!
I find the Prometheans to be Boring and overkill. And whose to say that only one thing can change? Why not Storm?
I know this sounds like the pot calling the kettle black, but how can you say that based on the minute or so of Promethean footage we have so far? Personally I've always wanted an actual Forerunner appearance in a Halo game, I love their story, and this seems like the closest we're gonna get (depending on what they do with the Didact). I'm pretty psyched to see what they do with it.
I wonder if they'll do something similar with H4 (though flood are confirmed to not be returning), or if all the hostile factions are revealed in the first 5 mins.
Yes i admit i was a little preemptive in my judgement of the prometheans. I know nothing of their gameplay obviously, but i still find their aesthetics to overkill and stupid looking. Why would they have something so similar to a human skull within their face? Whats the Logic? And the hovering things, while being an interesting idea dont look at all cool to me. KEY WORD: TO ME. I think with every game their should be something different in all the enemies, but that doesnt mean game play wise. I wouldnt buy halo 4 if the covenant or "storm" looked exactly the same as in Reach .
Correct me if Im wrong, but Promethians are similar to Forerunners, and forerunners made humans in their image. Ergo, Promethians look like humans, or at least have some traits of humans.
Forerunners did not make humans. Ancient human civilisation actually existed alongside the Forerunners and went to war with them, but they lost. Their civilisation was (AFAIK) forcefully regressed and they were left on Earth, but the Forerunners in their later acquired nobility (they used to be pretty damn aggressive, going to war with the Precursors) kept humans as one of the races to be saved during the firing of the Halo rings. This is from somewhat vague memory, so I'm sure I've made some mistakes in there.
Source? Though I don't doubt that the skull is related somehow to the Forerunners or Humans, as both are said to be similar.
Prometheans are forerunners, the warrior class. This, and to add, the ancient humans were being attacked by the flood, which is why they were expanding and colonizing in forerunner territory, to get away from the flood. The forerunners where not aware of this and took it as a hostile invasion of their territory, so they fought back. The forerunners won, and sent some surviving humans back to earth and knocked them back down to a class I agrarian civilization, thinking they were irresponsible with sophisticated tech. Once the forerunners learned about the flood and why humans were invading, they respected the humans for their will to survive and fight when faced with almost certain defeat, which i believe has a part in why the forerunners thought of humans as their "reclaimers" after the firing of the halo array. and one more thing, those Preomethean Knights arent actually promtheans(forerunners), but automatons created by the prometheans, similar to sentinels. im not sure what the point of the glowing skull is, perhaps maybe it is just to look intimidating.
So does this mean Rocket race will have its own playlist? =o This could be great for Rocket race. One thing i miss from H3 RR is being able to Rocket jump, and in Reach you couldn't really do it because the physics were different. Hopefully either the vehicle physics will be similar to H3 or you can use trait zones to make it similar! I really love Rocket Race.
Grav volumes =/= trait zones. Trait zones aren't relative, nor do they impart momentum on their contents. Grav volumes are relative and impart momentum. Vehicles are affected by the grav volumes like man cannons. I haven't seen gravity settings (via trait zones or otherwise) demonstrated on vehicles. (And yeah, I know this is a week old, but I skimmed ahead and didn't see anyone say anything about it)
