Nah. To me, it looks like a standing lizard with a t-rex head and a tyrant neck. EDIT: Oh. That worked out alright Translation of t-rex double meaning.. .get it? hm? hm? I'll stop now.
I guess that's why the Brutes didn't make the cut.. Spoiler Edit: and yeah that's a Brute in MM. Fear him! [br][/br]Edited by merge: lol Spoiler
I think you guys just don' wan' no change at all! i always thought the jackals were boring as hell to fight, and were the weakest link in terms of aesthetics.
Actually, when fighting Jackals, I did always think "Hey. These guys could do with a huge-ass fish head".
I like the jackals because they bring back something that the most recent halos didnt: Scary. Halo3 was a cake walk (except for the flood) and reach was down right boring. So when i hear people complaining i just dont get it? DO you guys want a fluffy semi-realistic enemy, of a badass over the top elite core! YEAH! WOOOO!
If they were going for scary, they have a whole new set of enemies to play around with. They don't need to tinker with well-known designs in such a radical way. Speaking of scary, the Promethean Knights freak me out.
This is why I don't play on Legendary first time I lay the campaign. I could just see myself getting raped by one of them.
Personally I would go for a horror game like Silent Hill if I was looking for scary. I've never thought of Halo as that kind of game. I mean, the enemies are primarily bright purple. Everything glows. It doesn't have the atmosphere to be a horror game. ODST didn't even get that close to being 'scary'. Halo storylines are more traditional war epics. Enough people are cheesed about crossing the videogame genres as it is. Crossing literary genres is brand suicide.
Halo wars had the best cutscenes I've ever seen. If they got anywhere near that in halo 4(in graphics or content) I'd be happy Spoiler Campaigns usually don't get me going like a movie or something would, but i was freakin pumped after that scene where forge killed the arbiter and the spartans kicked everybody's asses
You're right in that people looking for horror should play horror games, but that doesn't mean Halo can't include scary in its atmospheric arsenal, it just shouldn't rely on it. The first time I met the flood was pretty scary, and The Library was an incredibly tense level too (much as I know most people hated it). But yeah, I don't think they need to bend existing things like Jackals to that end by any means. The Prometheans look like they have potential to create some scary moments, and it'll never (nor should it be) the majority of the campaign atmosphere. Honestly I'm not too fussed by how Jackals look. I don't get close to them as often as other enemies, and when I do they're hiding behind a shield or cowering and running away. I guess the new ones look a little less weedy, but I feel that weedy works for Jackals.
Definitely this, Jackals were always supposed to be weedy and bird-like, that was their thing. I thought the Skirmishers were freakier, they should just stick with them. Or maybe they'll have a reason for the change, which would be nice.
