I'd just like to go back to the trait zones for a second. Just think how the could affect race maps! We could finally have race maps with loops like have all (admit it) dreamed of.
Do the gravity volumes move you in any direction? could you make an elevator down per say? or is it jus gonna be like the spire lifts?
You can flip them upside down or sideways or whatever. The direction they push you is relative to the Grav Volume object itself. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what dude indicated in that video. http://youtu.be/lnHPPsQFovY?t=28m1s Just make sure the vid starts at 28:01 [br][/br]Edited by merge: One of the first things I'm going to try in H4 Forge is a big slow motion grinder. Basically four grav volumes set up like this; >>vv ^^vv ^^vv ^^<< I have a few different ideas for gimmicky maps using it. Could be a lot of fun jumping from crate to crate, if that's possible.
you mean like a mario world thingy were you have moving crates moving along a set path moving back and forth?
Essentially, yes. If this effects a decent number of objects, which I get the impression it will, we could use this to make moving floors, elevators that move smoothly, conveyor belts, and just about any other moving object you can think of. It's gonna be insane.
Yes but only with Movable objects. I think they should have a feature were you can set a block to movable, that would be friggin' sick.
Ehm, I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that the angle at which the trait zone is positioned doesn't affect its effects. Edit: After watching the video the guy does seem to imply that you can indeed change the direction. It also means that vehicles will be affected by gravity settings for the first time in a Halo game. Really wish we had a proper Forge presentation already.
Aren't they going gold soon? We have a lot less info than Bungie gave us when they went gold. I remember getting full matches on The Cage and knowledge of Boneyard, Spire, Reflection, Powerhouse, Sword Base and more, along with multiple extensive ViDocs. If I remember correctly, at least. You would think that 343 would match or add to this level of openness to ensure everyone that these changes are thought out and the game is still Halo...I mean, we still don't have too much to go on. Has there been any official gameplay vid from anything more recent than the E3 alpha build? I haven't seen any, if there is.
Scorch, get out of my head. I have noticed this as well, 343i talked all about how they wanted to ensure everyone that it was still Halo and was going to be fun. Now, I'm not saying everything needs to be spilled, and I have great faith in the campaign side that it will be fantastic, but the multiplayer details need to be a little more clear. And Forge would be pretty cool too.
I thought I heard somewhere that we'd be seeing a new build at PAX. Could be getting the more in-depth stuff soon.
I feel like some of you are being too pessimistic about the game. You have to realize that you don't know what you want. It's not like you say to yourself every august: "Gee, there better be an over-the-top sitcom about a sassy black family on TV or else I'm not watching TV this season". They show you stuff, and sometimes you have to adapt what you like to match the developer's ideas. Behind all that "It's not halo anymore" stuff you realize that this game just caters to your needs better and gives you faster respawn times. If it works, which it definitely does since they test it every day, it will be an amazing game. People don't realize that reach works on a certain level. Reach was my first serious halo game and I have grown to love it. and I end up having a much better time than you guys online. If you guys just grew into the game, and appreciated it for what it really is, you would enjoy it much more too. You can't go into Halo 4 expecting Halo 3, because you'll be seriously disappointed. Not because it's worse, but because it's F**king different. *censored it because it's tasteful and looks cooler.
Well there's your problem right there. I grew up on the tail end of Halo 1 and had my Xbox Live through the beginning and the end of Halo 2. I loved Halo 2's fast paced gameplay, which is what appeals to me in H4, the speed has been cranked way up from H3's moderate speeds, and Reach's slowerthanmolassesuphillinthebloodywinter speed. I also like COD: MW & MW2 because they were new things. I personally don't like the look of Specializations and such because they aren't really "new" they are just borrowed from other games and tossed into the Halo sandbox. At least that's how I feel about it.
