Since the Beta offlines in a few days, has anyone here began working on Halo 3 versions of maps revealed in the Reach Beta? I imagine High Ground and Powerhouse are similar enough in basic design and concept, and that Swordbase would be fairly easy to recreate in Sandbox, but I'd also like to see comparable weapons in roughly the same spawns, and I have had no luck finding details on where every weapon spawns on the Reach Beta maps.

I think I have a rough idea on how to tweak the custom game settings to accommodate the alterations of Halo 3 to Reach, but it still needs testing and polish. Here's my all-Spartan-games start:

    BASE PLAYER TRAITS:

    Shields and Health:
    Damage Resistance: 100%
    Shield Multiplier: Normal Shields
Shield Recharge Rate: 90% (slower) (Reach is pre-Halo 2, pre-Mark VI armor.)

    Weapons and Damage:
Damage Modifier: 90% (Weapons generally feel a little weaker in Reach.)
    Primary Weapon: Assault Rifle
    Secondary Weapon: Magnum
Grenade Count: Map Default (more than likely, it will be Frags anyway)

    Movement:
Player Speed: 90% (WE AIN'T MASTER CHIEF YO)
Player Gravity: 150% (I would only make it 110-125% if I had the option.)

    Sensors:
    Motion Tracker Mode: Normal Mode
    Motion Tracker Range: 25 meters

    Appearance:
    Active Camo: Off
    Waypoint: Visible to Allies
    Forced Color: Off

If you want to find where the weapons spawn play a match and save the video, AS SOON AS IT STARTS pause it and go in free camera mode and either draw up a diagram of the positions or save the video to a comp.

The biggest problem is making loadouts, otherwise, you should just go with the maps, and not the gametypes.

I may have a go at a smaller version of Powerhouse after the beta ends.

Making loadouts is pretty impossible in Halo 3, since you only can use Custom Power-Ups to come even close to similar effect. I don't have to detail the flaws of that plan to you guys.

The exception would be a mock-up of Spartan vs Elites, which I pretty successfully imitated with the use of CPUs. Team game, Forced Color on all Players Green, with the above settings (establishing one side as Spartans); then, make the CPU 110% Damage Resistance, 110% speed, 100% gravity, and Forced Color Purple (to reflect the Elites' racial advantages). Then all you have to do is configure the Elite team spawn/respawn area so they HAVE to pass through a CPU to get into the play area, and set the CPUs to instantly respawn. The longest you can make it last is ninety seconds, unfortunately. Slayer games should insure that a player dies long before then though. My only concern is trying to imitate Objective Games in these settings. Perhaps reversing the spawn/CPU roles would take care of that: Spartans don't usually live for ninety seconds, do they?

What the **** is all this talk of loadouts and SvE? The title said Reach Maps?

Back when there was very limited information on Powerhouse and like two pictures I saw someone post a pretty accurate and good looking map preview.

    Maybe it'll pop up.

yea, [thread=96365]here it is[/thread]. It looked better before the pics were removed.

Id like to see a boneyard inspired map, with a huge open field that somehow provides decent cover.

Dude, you're so mistaken. Get 'cho facts straight.

What difference does it make? Regardless of what was considered to be 'the better armour' in game they all recharged at the same rate. You don't even need to try and implement a health system because there technically already is one in H3, you just don't see it.
Your crazy, everything felt stronger. I don't know how you can even compare the HR Pistol to the H3 pistol, or even the AR.

Umm, you kinda are. You're still a spartan for god sake, you ran the same speed.

Actually, shield recharge and run speed are definitely slower.

The weapons ARE more powerful now though.

The maps of reach are just good maps by themselves. No need to create a special gametype intended to mimic reach because we do not have the things needed to do this. Just build a remake and play some normal slayer on it. A few changes may be nessecary on sword base to help player movement without jetpacks but otherwise the maps work well.

You run slower, jump shorter and take longer to die and have more slowly recharging shields..I dunno what your talking about. There have been some weapon changes yes, but both the H3 pistol and Reach pistol are a five shot, the H3 pistol just shoots slower and is less accurate.

As far as canon goes: Mark V was based on jackal shield tech, whereas VI was the humans better variant. Mark VI shields do, as per canon, recharge faster. As for run speed: SIII's have different gene augmentations than the SII's. The SII's are bigger, faster, stronger and were older when they went through the augmentation process.

I'm actually sick of sword base and powerhouse, as I've been playing the beta nonstop since it went live. I'm looking forward to the next 6 months of playing H3 before it becomes old hat.
I think trying to recreate these beautiful maps in h3 forge is a waste of time and energy. Lets enjoy H3 in its final glory days for what it is, not for how we can make it like reach.
That being said, I don't think the same goes for gametypes. SvE slayer in H3 WOULD be fun. As long as I'm one of the spartans, anyway. I hate those dinosaurs
