But does it affect gameplay? I found one of those "no guardians" Sandbox variants on b.net and was wondering if it affects playability or the like when playing on it? Has anyone made a level using this variant as a template? If so, did you run into any trouble? Cheers.
im not sure what you mean by "does it affect gameplay"? i guess so, since you can go anywhere on the map till you hit the elastic barrier. and yes, people have made them. One would be "desert rats" made by LIGHTSOUT, i believe it is in casual maps. its a cat n mouse type game. nevrmind, its in mini games. heres a link. http://www.forgehub.com/forum/mini-game-maps/58805-desert-rats.html
Sorry. I mean to ask if it locks up or glitches the game or anything. I was wondering why, if all that space could actually be used, Bungie decided to make it so that you can't go out there by default.
no, not that i noticed. it was perfectly fine. and bungie made that exspanse of sand just to be aesthetically pleasing and original. huge walls on every map wouldnt be too good. and if you could go out there, it would WAY too big for any normal gametype, at least with no cover and anything less than 8v8.
There would be no reason for it to lag since the lasers are still shooting, the blast itself is just confined by a block.
yeah you can use all of the space and it doesn't glitch/lag the lasers just are blocked and dont hit you or anyone else like intended to
If you BLOCK the lasers, no, there's no problem. However, if you OVERLOAD the map, with tripmines and stuff, then you'll start to have problems. But it sounds like you're dealing with a blocked map, so its all good.
The only 2 things which get annoying are: The constant firing of the lasers, but you soon get used to it and doesn't really distract you during gameplay. Its really dark. The crypt is dark and can be lit up with a red or blue light. The dunes can't, they're just dark.
