I didn't watch the video before, but I did just now. That looks incredibly staged. What's with the shitty camera handling? Doesn't look like a GTA game at all, but it could be in the alpha stages. I still stand by my statement that it's fabricated.
Maybe the dude had a seizure because the game was so cool? I'm not sure, but I've been hearing rumors like Vice City 2 or something, this somewhat looks like VC. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Moar evidence. GTA: Vice City 2 Easter Egg (GTA IV) - YouTube The more things I find makes me believe it actually will be Vice City or San Andreas. Also GTA 3 10 Anniversary is coming out for iOS devices. They wouldn't remake GTA 3 because GTA IV already takes place in Liberty City. So its probably a pattern. Starting from the first third-person GTA games - GTA 3 - GTA Vice City - GTA San Andreas - GTA IV (Notice how they say its the 4th one? Thats because it has a new engine) - GTA 3 Anniversary for iOS devices. Now it goes back to VC. In the vid it shows San Andreas as well. I wouldn't mind if that include that in GTA V as well.
There's not much to get excited for until they release the trailer in a few days. But yeah, it's not that surprising. It's just like announcing a new COD, you knew it was coming.
San Andreas was my all-time favorite GTA game. I would love to see it make a comeback but I am not going to get my hopes up. Although the "V" does look like it would appeal more to the San Andreas crowd. I'm probably just over-analyzing.
I have to agree. San Andreas was the best one, mostly because of the awesome cheats, but Vice City had the best map and took place in the 70's. So I favorite VC.
I thought that San Andreas had the best customization options, as well as plot, mission design and combat system. Every other game felt kind of choppy in combat and auto-aim in the latest game was unreliable and buggy. In addition, airplanes were awesome and the character archetypes were awesome. You start out small and gradually work your way up the food chain, unlike the other games where your success was abrupt and after one mission, everybody knew who you were. I like making a name for myself by grinding, it feels so much rewarding. In GTA IV, there were cheats but nobody wants to activate them because they're afraid that they might save over it, thus making it impossible to get an achievement anymore. I hope they make a free-roam mode that doesn't "corrupt" your save. It's the main reason I play the damn game anymore. The last story sucked.
70's? everything about vice city screams 1980s. the cars, the clothes, the colors, even the font of the "Vice City" on the cover of the box. Without having to look it up, i am 100% sure it took place in the 80s. And vice city was the only GTA i ever played, so if 5 is set in VC i might be interested in it
This. But vice city had spectacular cheats. I'm really into innovative game dynamics... I'm not sure on the terminology but basically being able to combine effects to make awesome effects. Like the helicopter in gta IV, various cheats that can be combined, free mode online, etc. That kind of stuff provides many options which is fun imo.
I'm not that excited for another GTA. IV was cool, but I ultimately got over it as everything just became too much of the same for me, and I hated driving around the world looking for things to do. I didn't have good enough internet to go online for it, so that's probably why I didn't get as much replay value out of it as other people. I'll very likely give this one a miss though, unless it has something extremely improved over IV to draw me in. I couldn't care less where it's set, who the main character is or what he or she does, professionally or criminally, and the driving of cars isn't something that would keep me interested for long periods of time, as I could just do that in real life if I felt the urge. Come on Rockstar, impress me.
I personally could never get over GTA IV. It's the only game I own that I have never gotten tired of. To this day, 3 and a half years after its release, I still fire it up and play it every couple months.
Same here. It's a very addicting game and a good time waster. Online would be boss if any of my friends still played it. One of my friends practically dreads the game and would rather play cod over gta. I really like an open-world feel where you can basically interact with everything and mess around without any major game-changing consequences.
This. Stunts in Vice City were unrealistic but made it much more fun. I've spent a great deal of my life on that game.
Vice City Rage - Welcome to Vice City - YouTube Then why are you playing GTA IV without this? [br][/br]Edited by merge: I defiantly agree on that cheat note. I played SA again today. I forgot all the stuff you can do. Haircuts, weight, ect. Its weird how Rockstar didn't keep all those options. GTA IV had a good storyline though. I don't see how it sucked.
I think the idea of 4 was to make a next gen throwback to 3 - a simpler game set entirely in one city, where it's all about immersing you in this one location and character. Which was fine with me because I did like the setting and the character, and I was a huge fan of GTA3. And I understand that maybe they felt the pressure to live up to SA was too much, and it was better to go in a new direction... but admittedly I got somewhat bored with 4 not long after finishing the main story, which wasn't true with San Andreas (I played that game to death, then brought it back to life and played it to death again). So I would agree with those hoping for a return to something more San Andreas-y. Greatest GTA game. I love the hugeness and the sheer variety of crap you can do - gang wars, car customization, haircuts, body shaping (though I don't want to be forced to eat all the time), riding a damn BMX bike up and off of a mountain, flying a harrier jet around, starting a war in Area 51... etc. That game was endlessly fun. If they make a current gen take on that concept, I will love them forever. Definitely anticipating the trailer next week, and hoping it blows my mind. -- On a separate subject (sort of), I will never understand all the love for Vice City. It had two awesome upgrades over GTA3: motorcycles (really can't be overrated, those things) and the beautiful setting, particularly the neon beach front area. But in most other respects the game was basically a GTA3 retread, with the same type of missions and stuff to do, and the city was so flat and uninteresting to drive around in. GTA3 had a lot more stunt jumps and such because of its hillier terrain. And then San Andreas came along and crushed both 3 and Vice City. In my opinion Vice City was fun but 3 was better due to the city and the originality of the game, and SA was MUCH better. I feel like most people who prefer Vice City probably played it first.
