Is grif Ball gone forever? Did Bungie mess up again? It wouldn't suprise me if they did... Is Bungie gonna bring back Grif Ball as a seperate playlist or was it just a one time thing. I know a lot of the community is gonna pissed off because Grif Ball was extremely popular and it was actually a fun way of leveling up. So if anyone knows whats going on with Grif Ball than let me know..... I already checked Bungie forums and they have nothing about it.
First the ban thing, and now this? But this post isn't about that, so I'll try to help you out. I took the liberty of numbering your OP to make it easier to read, and address. 1. Why would Grifball be gone forever? It's a classic and it survived all through Halo 3. If it was gone, Bungie would lose a chunk of their fan base. 2. I'm sorry Bungie can't cater to everyone 100%, but that ****ing impossible. 3. I believe it was removed to fix some stuff, like the sword not doing enough damage or something. 4. Levelling up as fast as possible. You're supposed to enjoy the game, which is why it was removed, it was broken and some people couldn't enjoy it.
Thanks dude.... I sort of thought bungie wouldn't get rid of it but I wanted to make sure... and i have been noticing the problems with it as well
Just like all the other recent playlists, Bungie is throwing them up for a week... checking their stats, deciding whether it's worth keeping, making any necessary changes should the playlist come back.
I think it was temporary so they could iron out a few of the kinks in the gametype. At least, I hope thats the case. I think its bullshit that living dead is given its own CRAPPY playlist about 2 weeks after the game coming out, but no grifball playlist? Same thing goes with MLG. Grifball.com may not be as big as MLG or have as many members, but I think it should be in the community area, always. Having said all that, I knew it was only a two weeks playlist going in, they did tell us. I stayed up until the classic "this playlist is no longer available, please choose another", so I got my grifballin in. I know some people will say that if there was grifball available all the time, thats all people like me would play. Not true. I did play it for two weeks straight, almost completely not touching normal matchmaking halo, but if I knew it was going to be around all the time, I wouldn't have to binge on it! I conversed with grifball's page on facebook and they said the gametype wasn't correct, that bungie didn't get the gametype from them for some reason.
They did that with MLG too, used their own gametype with their own settings and their own maps right off the start. Which is incredibly egotistical and childish strange, as if the proper gametype wasn't good enough for them.
I think they should make everyone assassination proof. So many times i'd be carrying the ball about to hit someone, they would turn their back making it an assassination, which makes me drop the ball and immobile for a few seconds. not what you want in grifball.
They didn't deliberately use their own gametypes and maps, or at least not quite in the sense you're talking about. They had to change various things like forcing spartans and making the gametype name appear above the score rather than the base gametype it was created from. The changes made to maps and gametypes were a byproduct of them being put into MM and, whilst it took a disappointing amount of time to fix in the case of the runtime max issue, it was a genuine mistake rather than them trying to undermine the way MLG had set things up. Whether the changes were made by accident by someone who didn't know why the runtimes had been raised, or as a glitch in the system which implemented them in to MM remains unknown. Personally I'd guess it was the latter since the gravity was upped without the actual setting being changed in the gametype (if you downloaded the original MM MLG gametypes the gravity was set to 150% as it should be, but when you played it was clearly 300% or similar), so it certainly sounds like a technical glitch to me. Considering how unstable forge variant files seem to be, I could fully believe that the runtimes were reset to the number on map through a glitch when the maps were put in MM as well. Why not just avoid holding the melee button? I've accidentally assassinated about 3 times in almost 3000 games of Reach MM.
I'm talking about when you're carrying the ball and using melee to survive. its the only button you can push. In my team of 4 friends I am often the ball carrier, you'd be surprised how often it happens. I'm pretty sure the league gametype already addressed this, I've played a few games with them and its never happened. Haven't actually examined the settings in the gametype though.
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding you, but I don't see how carrying the ball makes a difference as to assassinating over backsmacking/meleeing. If just push the button as opposed to holding it then you will melee rather than doing the full assassination animation.
i do tap, but that only works about 50% of the time for me. maybe i need a new controller.... it is getting old.
Thing is, my friend complains of accidental assassinations a lot, not in Grifball but in regular MM. You actually make a good point and maybe I should tell him to consider getting a new controller, his is pretty old and some of the buttons aren't as responsive as they once were.
I did a test. Signed in a guest with my crappy gamestop controller, and tried only to pummel said guest. I tapped every time, and 4/10 were assassinations. The amount of time I was holding the button was slight, but it happens. I'd say there is some validity to this theory. New controller ASAP.
