GreenPearl Raceway By T4K Shadow "Welcome back, Halo 3" Why did I say that? Well, Halo 3's racetracks were awesome, twisting things of pure beauty, and Halo Reach so far has not had any of them, or I havn't seen one. Now, they're back in the form of GreenPearl Raceway. GreenPearl is built in a unique part of Forgeworld, right against the edge of the barrier just outside of the Canyon. I honestly don't know what to say about this one, it's a pure beauty, it's smooth, banked, and the perfect length. It keeps riders interest as well as leaving them wanting more. This time around I'm leaving you with just a video; YouTube - Halo Reach Amazing Racetrack - GreenPearl Raceway I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. ~Please feel free to give me constructive feedback, to help me improve my tracks. You know what i think that sucks. Why does everyone make maps like you could make them in Halo 3? You've got all of this terrain, natural stuff and whatever. Why NOT use the envoirement, and stick to a track that only includes bends and turns, without an ascetically pleasing view? Great rack, but well you know...
Because they ride SO much better, it becomes less about "Hey! Let's see who gets lucky on the bumps!" and more about the best line taker and rider. If you take alook at my other tracks I do use some terrain etc. But I wanted this one to be different, appealing more towards the "pro" riders, and less to the "casual" riders. The enviroment is not smooth, bumps everywhere, sometimes it's hard to tell if there's a bump in front of you, and in a second you're on your back (wahay!). Thanks guys, I guess. =]
whoa this is probably the best race trace yet! You don't fall off all the time on this map do you? Oh and btw your link isn't working for me.
Admittedly, I'm not one for really keeping tabs on this since i float in and out of the forging community, but I feel like I've seen a bit of a shift, or at least a significant increase in terrain or mixed tracks(combo terrain/sky) being just as popular in tournaments and competitive racing as these sorts of smooth tracks. To be honest, I feel like this kind of smooth skytrack makes it easier/user friendly and less "pro" than terrain or mixed tracks, since they encourage a driver to be more aware of their handling as opposed to the occasional use of the e brakes. We probably have different takes on what constitutes a pro/casual track though. All that said, this maps looks beautiful. You have my dl. Very good work.
Personally I prefer tracks like this to the sometimes rougher terrain built into forge spaces. Of course, I like NASCAR more than I like other kinds of racing... going in circles CAN be challenging... Great map, thanks.
This does remind me of Halo 3 haha but thats not a good or bad thing. I like the new styles of tracks combining smooth air parts such as this track with tough drift turns and terrain is cool too but it's not needed. This is a very smooth and enjoyable track though nice job man
the "download now" link at the top of the thread is broken. please replace it with the exact same URL that you used for the link at the bottom of your post. this can be done in the advanced "edit post" options. the map looks great. i have DL'd and will return with commentary at a later point.
Opps, my bad. Somebody said before that my download link wasn't working but I only tested the one I put in, it's fixed now! Thanks everyone for the feedback. Some of you prefer tracks with terrain sections, that's fair enough, the more variety in tracks we have, the more people will enjoy them. Some tracks will be all terrain, some with alot of it, some with alittle and some with none at all. If people continue to create some of each then everybody will be happy, right?
Not a bad map. Its pretty good, but the forging isnt exactly the smoothest. The map is rough in some areas. I do however understand that you are trying to make it like Halo 3's, so I am taking that into consideration. All in all, it rides quite well, but its not the kind of track I want to repeat too often. 7/10
i thought the forging was perfectly fine. i think thats a bit nitpicky. the track drives very smooth in all parts. The jumps have smooth landings too. IMO this is how a racetrack should be made. Like the OP said, when the track is built wide and easier to drive, without any ridiculous jumps, launches, or impossible to drive turns, it breaks the race down into who can actually RACE the best. Also, i feel it is important to note that i did not experience framerate lag. which is also saying something because a lot of these tracks have been having that issue. Great job man, keeping this one around for a while.
Thanks Titmar! Yeah it did have framelag because of a green light placed in the water, but I removed it just before I released it, solving the issue. Also I thought it was increadibly smooth, not sure why the other guy criticised it for not being smooth. Thanks everyone, it's clear the almost everyone enjoys the track!
