I've been thinking about spending a lot of time on a zombie map, and actually making it stand out. So, I'm asking you guys, what features would you like to see in a zombie map? To start things off, I'm going to use an opening door (only from the outside) for the entrance to the base, and timed events will unluck new features (plasma cannons later in the round), etc. What kind of aestetics would you guys want in a zombie map? What other features would you want?
you have to have some reason that the humans have to move, eg. no extra ammo, or something otherwise they will just camp.
Personally. I would love to see/play/download/and help make a very well made zombie mall map. Opening doors to the mall would make it very unique and there are lots of elements you could use to make it interesting. 1st. Multiple gametypes. Multiple gametypes are important for a map to prevent the players from getting bored. For example, have one gametype include only one human similar to Dead Rising and others with more humans. A VIP gametype would be great for the mall simulating the task of rescuing the mall survivors. 2nd. Unique additions. Make your map stand out but offering a selection of weapons that simulate things in real life. Try and be creative if you are going for a great mall like, mauler = nailgun. Also, make the stores realistic by offering items that are available generally in that store like a propane tank at the hardware store (players can move these around to set traps etc.) 3rd. Multiple starting points. This prevents players from sticking too close together. Maybe have one placed outside by a crashed truck... or in the food court. 4th. Neatness. Nobody loves a messy map. Just try and make it as proffesional as possible using the forging 101 techniques along with interlocking. PS: I love how you posted this thread to ask what WE want. Great job on that and I hope you do a good job! (no pressure)
Having a lot of open opening doors is kind of hard. THe max the way I do it is 4. Is there any specific features you want to see, or you think would be usefull?
SORRY for the double post, but I have to update. I've finished the door, and almost completely perfected in. I'm doing two arches as the front of the building, and the first place you're going to go is in the basement, and then go to another place in the map, possibly higher.
