He did not mean the way you most likely thought it.

You can't lie about things that will cause harm to others.

    That's it.

Also, I ran into a similar encounter. I was once playing this supernatural game in which the pieces moved themselves. It told me things, and one night I was walking home and I saw some guy in front of me. It was scary and the next day the Pastor put his hands over my head and told me not to play that game again.

Ah, it might have been the weegie board. The reason I say this is because some of my teachers they have burned one because it acted weird and it let out a screech when it turned into ashes.

    Just a thought.

That is contradictory. If there is a finite amount of time, then that means there was an early point where there was nothing. If something can't come out of nothing, you then are left with a paradoxical situation, no? And if something can only come out of something, then that means god came from some other thing. It creates a long chain of "this made this, which made this, which made this..." And that means God is not omnipotent, since he is not the supreme being, correct? That is why I proposed a universe in which God was simply a powerful sentient force. He wanted more around him, so he expanded himself to make the universe; the Big Bang.

I have a general question for whoever is willing to answer. Out of all the questions regarding spirituality I have. The one i'm about too ask is by far the most restless in my mind. It is quite simply, if I am currently conscious. I wasn't conscious before my own birth. Obviously neither were those around me. Thus when I die and my consciousness fades. Would it not be possible too come to a form of life again from that same nothing? (In essence, reincarnation pretty much) Though my more prominent question was something along the lines of wether or not their is some sort of obscure scientific theory to explain this. (By obscure I mean obscure outside the circles of debate and science)

Well about your conscious. A little thing about how it works. Christians say that you have a body and your soul correct? Some people find this to be silly, saying your brain and chemical reactions are responsible for all your thought and emotions? O rly say some scientists. Some scientists believe now that your conscious, your soul if you will, your whole personality is not within your body. It is in some kind of meta-physical state. They believe this because you know how many believed your memories and such are stored in your brain? Well now they argue otherwise. They ask why then when people are in things like car accidents, and parts of their brains are destroyed, then how come sometimes they regain their memories? Many have found it impossible to explain. If the memories had supposedly been there how the hell could you regain them without the actual storage area? No, rather they think the brain as more of a conduit. THink of the brain as a TV, and your memories being projected onto the TV. Your memories are somewhere else and your brain interprets them and then conveys their meaning. This ties into to what you said because if you find yourself religious and might believe in things other than a physical state then perhaps you will find it interesting of this idea of memories being somewhere else. Just an interesting study, take what you will from it.

God never had a beginning, there is eternal and then there is infinite. Eternal is no beginning and no end, was just always here, and that's what God is. Infinite has a start but not an end.

"Then why does God say he will give us eternal life?"

In the Bible, it is said that God "already knew you" and had plans for you, plans that would give you life and a hope. We are all eternal (however this is subject to my beliefs) and whether or not you get eternal life - you will still be eternal, though in torment.

Nitrous, God could not have just come, God could not have been made. In fact, God cannot be made. If God was made, he would not be God. No one gave God his traits, our mind isn't smart enough to comprehend something like it. Try thinking of something creating something that never had a beginning - its impossible.

Conciousness is just brain functions. We are conscious because it is best for our own survival, and for no other reason. In reality, all we are is a collection of smaller cells. You can't just move your consciousness somewhere else- it's like saying that we could transplant somebody's bones. (Except, the part of our body that gives us the sense of consciousness is not clearly defined, it is just a section of our brain).
@aMoeba: Even though your idea is flawed, I will overlook that to make a different point. Can't we just say that the universe is eternal?

No no, what I meant is not my conciousness itself. I mean if I came to conciousness from technically nothing. And when I die I revert back to said nothing, is it not possible to be alive again just an entirely different species/lifeform/etc with an entirely different new memory function. The same way I did last time.

"You" cannot. Once you are dead, you are dead. Having your consciousness come alive again is like being born again. Your consciousness is tied to your body - it IS your body.

Theoretically, if I lose my body I am dead. When I am unconscious, I am dead (This is all according to the first statement). Once I regain consciousness, I would "born again."

However, the point I presented is the fact that it happens inside life, not outside of it. Once you disprove my first point then you are victorious, if not, your statement makes no sense, because all that can pretty much happen in life (however you'd like to say it, if you consider unconsciousness dead, I sure don't, you know what I mean)

I don't really see the point in arguing over these kinds of points, aMoeba. I wasn't trying to perfect the syntax of my sentence and make it as concise as possible- it was just a quick sentence to answer a basic question. I assume you can realize that I don't believe that coming out of unconcoiusness means being born again, and that it was simply a fallacy in the way I wrote it.
Consciousness, the way I was using it, is your ability for your brain cells to function in the way they normally do.

Maybe you arn't getting this, so ill make it simpler. Once apon a time I didn't exist, I was nothing. So one day, I did exist. And then I lived my life and reverted back to that very same nothingness apon death. My question is is it possible for me to become something like a dog/bear/tree by means of the same reproduction that spawned what I am NOW! Ya know, the same way I did to be standing here typing this. I obviously wouldn't be the same thing at all but my main question was whether or not me coming from nothing can happen twice.

You mean 1 of 3 things:
-Can my atoms come back as something new? Yes.
-Can a second one of me be created, through the same random chances as the first? No, the chances of every single one of the situations being recreated exactly are null.
-Can my consciousness carry on and into something else? No.

I'm not sure why I'm not understanding you well. If somebody else understands his question and wants to restate it, please do.

I don't want to take this far, but if you post in a debate, expect to get refuted, no matter what you say. I was simply trying to confuse you, to see if you had some other answer. (This works quite often)

Also, it seems what sheo is trying to say is that he was at one point - Nothing. Then he was something. Then he went back to nothing. Then his question is if its possible to turn into the something he is now. Basically asking if his existence could happen twice. Almost but not quite lamens terms, reincarnation.

Not what I am now exactly (I kinda worded that bad) But just being something period. Is it possible to from that second nothing become say a bear with absolutely all that entails (Run on instinct only,no knowledge of prior life, etc) Ya know, without any connection what so ever to this life now.

EDIT: I just figured it out, short answer, no.
Double edit: actually I just realized the answer is still undetermined.
Triple edit: lets just say, this ones gonna take me a while. When I find an answer that I don't fickley change every 5 seconds ill report back.

So you are asking a variant of question 2:
'Is it possible for my atoms to reform into another living being after I die?'
Yes. Your atoms aren't special. Once you die they will scatter as you gradually decay, and will end up being parts of many, many things.
If you are asking if your dead body can spontaneously form into a different form of life again... no.

I can't say for certain, I guess when you die you'll figure out.
