The largest movable object is probably the dumpster, and that is a bulky mis-shaped object, which i doubt will ever rotate consistently.
They don't. However the spools DO. It's just they are long and thin. Which makes it hard to use. If there was some central harpoint the spools can spin around to keep them up then it's possible, hense my design, however the spools if they hit one another in the wrong way will explode out from their projected path or clog one another. However the subjective thign is making a hardpoint in the center that the spools can go around without catching on. I'm will be trying several items tonight to see what I can do.
do you need the whole floor to spin or just the outside? i dunno if i can do either but it wod be easier if it was just the outside
I get the hardpoint idea, but there isn't anything long, thin and unmoveable that seems like it would work. I have my own idea, but have to wait a bit before testing.
I tried the hardpoint Idea and it failed. I then settled on something to rest over the moving floor. It works however it's too fast to be concidered a stable floor... most of the time you end up making yourself a one shot kill. Also it still no matter that I do have a tendency to stick. Still working on that. However for this set up the masher idea works great. If I can fix it tomorrow I'll put it up on my fileshare and post it here.
I have the answer for a line moving floor, but i had it done, but the game didn't save, so i said screw it! this pissed me off
oh crap that sucks, i hate when i forget to save and i accidentaly quit, so now i am trying to save after i do something important on a map, or something that i would never be able to do again in a million years, you should try it
What i hate the most is when your working on a map and when you hit the 'Start New Round' and it calls out instead 'End Game'. it's happened to me several times after a certain number of start new rounds.
EXACTLY! my new map, its been rediculas cuz ive done so much, an it looks sweet, then all of a sudden, GAME OVER when you push new round, GGGRRRRR i had to redo so much! anyway has anyone else figured it out?
You could probably make a none pallet float on that, ive been able to get it moving, but never actually roatate only because its a rectangle, so on the sides you could fall off oh-so easy, and it could only be abut a pallet size big, honestly i tried, and almost ave it, but i decided one rotation pallet wasnt worth it, sorry man.
Is there a limit to a rotating floor? Does it have to be solid or can it be circular, like a ring that goes a round a central area? Like a lazy river ride a t water park. I don't know if you want a ring or what your even envisioning but a "lazy river" of sorts would allow access to the map quickly and effectively. Won't be able to work on it today but I will start it soon.
i have tried this idea, extensively, with wire spools, it seems possible, but its VERY hard, it has to be a perfect round thing, because any hard angles, the wire spools will get caught in, and jam the whole thing... anyway, i have tried it until the point where im looking for another solution, i made the walls as perfect as i could, but it still didnt work, just because of the fact that the wire spools started dissappearing... anyway im gonna look for a thing with an individual wire spool, but its still in the planning stages... i must say, this is quite a challenge.
My idea uses that. It also uses tele recivers as a breaker to keep the items in place. However the man cannons I use to power the system make it so fast it's more of a masher than a revolving floor. Using instant respawn on the spools I also get a near always solid floor. I suppose if you went to positioned grav lifts the speed of the spools would decrease. I'll be posting this idea here tonight or tomorrow and let you all play with it tweaking it as you see fit.
i used mancannons also, and felt they went too fast, so then i resorted to grav lifts, but they dont seem to work at all, they just dont have the strength to push them all...
i dont care if it goes too fast as long as it works if the wire spools are dissapearing put them on instant repawn it should fix that problem. there is no limits as long as it rotates. do whatever the **** you want!
SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!? if its done then post a bnet link to it in this thread, or pm me the link whichever floats your boat. BY THE WAY THE CONTEST IS STILL OPEN SO JUST BECAUSE THIS GUY IS DONT DOESNT MEAN ITS OVER, I STILL WANT YOU GUYS TO POST YOURS HERE SO I CAN DECIDE WHO THE WINNER IS FOR THE V1 MAP, AND THEN ONCE I FIND BETTER ONES ILL MAKE V2'S AND V3'S AND SO ON.
Correct. Seriously I wrote this for everybody about it earlier. Feel free to improve on this map I will be posting. It will be sunday at noon central time but I'llpost it on here.
Me gunna try it, no clue when it'll be done. BUT wait... does rotating mean like one big circle or the outline of a circle? cause one is hard, one is simple (in order) I kind of already have something like it done though, just look for Crazy train as one of my maps. It may not be a rotating floor, but a circular hallway that propels you around it (as well as some soccer balls)
