Goblin Hey guys, so even though posting maps is very hard to do these days. Luckily I was able to at least show you guys a map. Goblin is an infection only map designed for Alpha Zombies. The map is based on equal entrances and sightline blocking for fast paced gameplay. The map gives kind of a green magical atmosphere with the juicy FX and vibrant green colors. There are weapons on the map. All of them sit on an upside down strut, so you know where to find them quickly. I used several windows for zen views of forge world. If you look out all of them, no pieces stick out from the map, which was very hard to do. Goblin has been through much testing. The areas seem very repetitive and the same. Nothing really stands out to make each area unique in a way that I can easily find my way around the map. Those tunnel shorts dont help either. Gameplay-wise, it looks like it flows very well and dont seem to be very overpowering in certain areas. But there's hardly any elevation at all, which can make gameplay less amusing. Thats just my opinion. Over-all the forging is very clean and precise, and still looks pretty fun to play on
Thanks Robo. I know I kind of got carried away with keeping the theme. I wanted all doors, walls, and roofs, to be the same; giving the map an identical look from room to room. For example, if I want a weapon, I know to go to the nearest Strut that I see; and if I want to go to another room, I look for the nearest tunnel short. Maybe I should have entered the 7x7 Contest. I'm also aware there's not much elevation. It is one of the map's flaws i'll admit. The reason being is because of the maps size; It's so hectic with all the zombies coming so fast on such a small map. I ended up keeping most of the elevation on the same axis to make magnum and shotgun easier. Anyway, appreciate the feedback. I know I have problems with keeping the pieces the same, maybe you could help me expand my forging themes. We should make a map soon. I love your work on crosswalk. See you around.
You shouldn't have recorded the first 40 seconds of the video, it hurt my eyes to see such immaturity. The map looks cool though, I love the green/yellow-ish color, and you used very neat objects to forge with, as usual. I would've liked to see some more verticality in the map, that's one of the main things I miss a lot in most Infection maps and try to put in my own future maps as well. (I noticed RoboArtist mentioned the same) I understand you tried to made it easier to use the magnum and shotgun this way, but if you were to tweak a future map in such a way that you can create smart room setups to counter that, that shouldn't cause too many problems. You don't have to change it in this map though, it's fine the way it is. All together, this map looks very solid, I can't wait to try it out sometime.
Thanks, and it wasn't me who recorded the video. Some random guy I invited from recent players wanted to record and upload it cause he liked the map. Glad he did. I don't have a capture card.
This map got more awesome once I got a feel for the map as a human when we were testing version after version. It feels incomplete, but you've done so much to this map already and I bet you've pushed budget to its limits making all the themed rooms. If you want to take a look at this before posting a final version I'd be glad to help out.
