Gladiator Compatible Gametypes: Slayer, King of The Hill, Capture The Flag Recommended Players: 2-8 Gladiator is a medium-sized symmetrical arena, designed to get all players into the action in an epic carnage fest. This map is primarily designed for Team-based gametypes, like 2v2 or 4v4 Slayer, 4v4 CTF, or 4v4 King of The Hill. FFA Gametypes are also compatible as well, but may lead to enemies respawning next to you. To give you a quick overview of this map's history, Gladiator is the first map i've created using Forge in Reach. Before creating this map, i had very little experience forging (only made 2 maps in H3), not knowing about editing coordinates, rotation snap, etc., and i took for granted the budget in Reach, which forced me to deal with the size of the map based on what i had. Design Layout Ever since i began working with Forge, i always loved creating symmetrical maps, for it never allowed one team to obtain certain advantages just from their Team Color. For example in the map Pinnacle, spawning on one side will allow the team to easily obtain the Rocket Launcher, Shotgun, and Sniper, while spawning on the other side will only give the team a Sniper. In my map, each team has the same advantages. The overall design of the map was never really thought out or planned. I simply started out experimenting with different combinations of buildings, blocks, etc., and went from there. I wanted to show off some of the beautiful environments that Forge World contained in my map, to give it some color, which is why i built my map floating in the air, next to an awesome, rushing waterfall. Unfortunately, this made me lose much needed money for structures, and decreased the intended size of the map. Here are some pictures showing some areas in the map: TOP FLOOR PICTURES COMING SOON (technical difficulties) The "Sniper Tower", which is located on top of the team's base, containing a Sniper. The tower has two Crenellation Covers for hiding in, and has a large opening in the middle, which drops down into the base, giving the player an advantage for ambushing. However, this tower has many disadvantages. The tower can be accessed three ways: From a lift, a ramp, or a teleporter. This can side track the sniper, leading to death. The teleporter (right) is a strategic part of the map, allowing players to quickly access the tower, and take out the Sniper (an important part of winning a slayer game), or it go the other way, and the Sniper could take out a seemingly stealthy opponent. The "Showdown Lane", located below and next to the base. It contains a lift (left) leading to another tower, and a teleporter, (right), leading to the Sniper Tower. Players can use this lane to sneak up to the sniper (hopefully not being seen on radar, and take them out. Players can also access the lower floor as well (opening to the left of teleporter.) Showing the other side of the "Showdown Lane". The curved path leads up to the team's base, with a lift that leads up to the "Sniper Tower". Notice the ramp behind the wall to the right of the lift. This ramp can be used to ambush players. Another picture showing the path which leads from the Bottom Floor over to the "Showdown Lane". A forked pathway located next to the lift. (Camera is positioned above lift). Two pathways (left and right) lead to the bottom floor, the middle pathway leads to the middle of the upper floor. There is a plasma repeater located next to the ramp on the upper left, and a plasma pistol next to the ramp leading to the "Sniper Tower" on the upper right. Notice the two fusion coils on the top. This is another strategic spot, which can allow players to throw grenades toward enemies in the area, and kill them. The bottom floor on the map, featuring numerous amount of covers, lanes, and buildings to access when in battle. This floor contains 2 Grenade Launchers and 1 Rocket Launcher, which can be used with the covers and walls to create an epic brawl of explosions. A corner of the bottom floor, containing a platform that leads to a building taking you to the top floor. A closer look at the two lifts located on the bottom floor. These lifts can be a srategic spot to destroy incoming enemies hoping to get their hands on the destructive Rocket Launcher, or also defeating enemies using the lift as well. Weapons Regular: DMR x 8- located on various parts of the map. Plasma Repeater x 2- Upper Floor next to Ambush Ramp Plasma Pistol x 2- Upper Floor Ramp to Sniper Tower Needler x 2- Lower Floor (corner) Needle Rifle x 4- Lower Floor + Lift Room Hall Grenade Launcher x 2- Lower Floor (corner) Grenade x 8 Plasma Grenade x 8 Focus Rifle x 2- Lift Tower Power: Gravity Hammer x 1- Middle of Upper Floor Rocket Launcher x 1- Middle of Bottom Floor Sniper Rifle (8 Bullets) x 2- Sniper Towers Shotgun x 2- Dropdown to Lower Floor Health Stations are located in all the buildings in the map. Conclusion Overall, i'm pretty happy with this map. The clan, friends, and I have had lots of fun playing custom games on Gladiator. I'm looking forward to making even better maps in the future!
